Thank your for your kindly and fast reply. I will look for more suggestions even though I incline to use the sanwas, as about the artwork I have found great resources on arcadeartlibrary.com both original and homebrew all vector. When I will begin the building of the cabinet I will make a thread to show it to the people.

Once again thank you very much !

Hello, I am new here and after watched this thread I decided to build an arcade cabinet myself. I have found plans CNC ready to cut (AutoCad source file with PDF extras previews) which I can provide if someone here is interested.

What I couldn't find is information about what joystick are better to be used. The cabinet will run games like MK2, Street Fighter, Metal Gear Slug, Donkey Kong Country, Mario 64, etc.

I was thinking about Sanwa JLW-UM-8 type from ultimarc, but I would like some thoughts about this from people already using them or maybe some suggestions about what to buy.

Hey mast3r, I'm very interested in the CAD files. Can you send me a link? Thanks!

I work on a different backpanel model for better ventilation - when it's finished I will make the source available .eps format and corel draw format

Thanks for posting those! It looks like that's a different (but similar) design to the tinyarcade one but it's still a good resource.

The Retrocade Legacy..

one of my colleagues at work is a Local Scout Master, so i paid them a vist with the Retrocade and now they're building their own machine, over the course of the next month.

their total budget is around the £150 mark, so this is being built with any donated components that they can find.

i will post shots and finished specs when it's completed, but here is a shot of the completed control panel.

due to cost restrictions there is no specialist printing. the graphics have been printed onto transparent A4 sheet and (there is a join in the middle of the Control Panel) the whole unit is then covered with sticky-back plastic. total cost around £0.60p. the sides and marquee will be covered in the same method.

bit of wiring pron for you to look at.. (the minipac is probably the most expensive single item purchased in the project)

the font missing is BerlinSansFBDemi Bold.

I myself no longer have the font on my machine, as these where created over a year ago, and the machine originally used is now my pinball machine.

they will however still print out ok, as long as you don't try to modify the text layers.

I have slightly altered the Retrocade artwork files to fit the cab better

screenshot20130329at122.png

they are all on one file in layers. you also have two choices on control panel designs. the file is 300dpi CMYK format, ready for printing

this PSD file will be uploaded to my folder on the FTP.

The construction plans pdf file is also in this folder.

enjoy.

Too many people have had issues with the invader lining up incorrectly on the two parts of the panels, so I've decided to remove it to illeviate the problem. I prefer the other panel design anyway.

If you want to put it back in you're welcome to do so..
