Hey everyone,

After many weeks of planning and WAY too many questions for the experts around here, I am starting my build thread.

Indiana Jones sounds cool.

I can’t wait to see I come together with lots of photos.

I am not sure if you have received your mini domes yet but they are only 1 ½ “ across.

Shoot. Didn't even check the size. Which ones do I need?

Edit: Turns out I linked to the wrong ones. Check it out now. Are those the right ones?

Ok....a few pics to get started....

Enough wood for 4 pins. Got some friends interested too and got all the wood at once. Fit like a glove in the minivan.

Drawing out the first one.

A friend works at a local TV station which had a nice (and warm) wood shop that we were able to use.

Backbox taking form.

Got the slot cut in the sides for the playfield glass rails.

Cut and installed the bottom and top of the cabinet.

IMG_2502.jpg

Drilled out the holes for the legs. Not as hard as I expected. Used 3 different sized bits and drilled from the inside out. Any small chips around the holes are easily covered by the legs. (You can see my nice stapling job on the first corner I put together. lol. First time using the air stapler.)

Mounting the leg brackets.

IMG_2505.jpg

Feels like an accomplishment seeing it up on the legs.

Set the backbox on top to see how it looks.

Sweet work on the speaker panel Mameman!

I bought some 1/2" x 3/4" molding and mounted it just under the bottom of the playfield screen slot in the sides. Gives it a little extra support under the screen. (I had to dremel off one small metal nut that was part of the casing. Also had to bend one small metal tab down. It was close to the one side and would hit the rails. Super easy and took just a minute to do.)

IMG_2514.jpg

IMG_2515.jpg

IMG_2516.jpg

Put the screen back in to make sure everything still fit well.

IMG_2517.jpg

The slots were just a little too deep so I used some weather stripping and mounted it inside the slot for the monitor. Fit perfect and gives it a little cushion on the sides.

Decasing the HANNspree backglass screen.

IMG_2528.jpg

Fits easily without the case on.

IMG_2529.jpg

Got the coin door in.

IMG_2532.jpg

IMG_2533.jpg

Cut the holes in the back door of the cabinet for the fans. (Used a Rotozip with circle cutting attachment. Still not perfect, but you can't tell once the fans are in.)

IMG_2538.jpg

Pic of the other 2 my friends are doing along with mine. Made some nice progress on theirs over the weekend.

Routed out the slot for the monitor to slide in.

I built my computer 6+ months ago and am just now getting back into steps to produce the cab. This thread is exactly what I was hoping for. Great information and photos. The links are particularly useful. Thank you!

Hope you don't mind some questions:

How did you determine the best playfield monitor slot position (bottom of cab up to slot)?

What is that measurements, if you don't mind?

Is the slot position consistent from front to rear? It appears so, but can't be 100% sure there was not some downward slop toward the front.

Did you consider a 32" backglass screen? I was under the impression that they fit, with just a little more notching fun.

Sorry if I am out of the loop, does Mameman produce the speaker grills or did he just happen to have extra (I guess that is a question for him).

Thanks,

Matt
