Any interest for N64 Japan Exclusives? 87 of them!

Hi all,

Does the community have any interest in making an XML, video set, box art, wheel art, and cart image and theme for these imports? I list the JAPAN EXCLUSIVES below for the Nintendo 64 console.

Below are the default rom names with the latest Rev shown, if the rom had multiple revisions. I am going to go thru and re-name some of these to their english counterpart name...for example Sin and Punishment...I will make another post with the default rom names, that I will suggest to be changed. I'll look forward to the name changes to see if we want to implement any name changes for some of the roms.

I may be down for this, I have a couple of projects in front of it though. I don't necessarily catch everything in the forums but if you can pm the final xml I will see about getting the videos added. Unless of course someone would like to submit captures.

Wikipedia lists 84 Japan exclusives....The list I am putting together on HS, will have 86.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Stadium

I have two extra games, not listed on Wikipedia, and I list the two below:

- Pocket Monsters Stadium (Japan)

- Jikkyou J.League 1999 - Perfect Striker 2 (Japan) (Rev A)

The reason I am including Pocket Monsters Stadium is because it only has 42 Pokémon instead of our USA version which had 151 original Pokémon. The Japan version is also much more harder. Hence I'll keep this game in our list. Agree or no?

The reason I am including Jikkyou J-League Perfect Striker 2 1999, is because like brolly said, this is J-Leage. Wikipedia says this game is same as "International Superstar Soccer 2000". However, the Japan version has 16 japan teams from J League Division 1 and 10 Japan teams from J League Division 2. The USA version has exactly 100 teams in total, every nation affiliated to UEFA at the time. Hence I am including this game in our list. Agree or no?

Grand total is 86.

Those J-League games are not the same as their euro/us counterparts, the game engine is the same, but they are based on J-League while the others are based on international teams. Also there are several game tweaks on them.

About the list what I did on my end (like I always do) was to select only the games that could be played without much difficulty if you can't read japanese, because let's face it many of those games on your list there will be unplayable unless you can read japanese.

I've re-named all the games that I am going to re-name. Some have not been re-named, because I am not sure how to re-name them.

Let me know if you think we should or shouldn't "show" the revised naming convention above when using the HyperSpin wheel. Popular opinion will determine if these will get re-named. Personally, I vote for the re-naming convention to be shown in HyperSpin. It will make much more sence to everyone who reads the names of their games while scrolling thru their list of games.

I think we could use the translated name in the description on the XML, so that it will show the new name, and not the original name. Let me know what you think of this idea. Only downside from what I can see is that the games won't be in alphabetical order. I think the order will still be based off of the actual rom name. I don't plan on editing file names of roms and pictures, but only to have the edited name in the description on the XML. Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers, KL

I am still learning the XML, what does the following tell me? index="true" image="0"

Is what I type for the description, what I'll see and read on the tv screen for the name of the game being displayed?

I have the roms, and I do plan on providing a list of CRC values later.

I have uploaded my 55MB file now. Look for the folder named "Keith_Loving" on the FTP sever. It contains all the files I accumulated thus far.

I do not have any graphics software. All I have is MS Paint. So the images I collected will need to be re-sized in a consistent manner.

I do not have the ability to do any graphics work, so if someone here would like to take up this responsibility, I'd appreciate it.

Feel free to add any work for this project into the "Keith_Loving" folder for the time being, until the project has been finished.

Everything in my folders, should be properly named.

I am not skilled in making themes, dat files, and XML's...hopefully those more skilled can take part in that.

I should have the cart scans all found and uploaded in a few days.....

Cheers, KL

Just a small update.

I am going to re-upload all of my files in a few days. I have some better images of the box art for some of the games.

Also, I will have an extra folder called "flyers" in which I have high quality scans of flyers that were available for some of the game. This is just an extra

Also, I will have most of the back side of the box images as well.

So this weekend, I am going to re-upload all my files. So stay tuned.

Hey mate! On that point exactly. I've been adding a ton of new systems here and soem overlap with existing video materials, but what I would like to do is start recording for systems that aren't currently supported. How do I go about doing that in an automated fashion and what settings/ equipment are needed? Is there a guide I could follow or a detailed explanation of what you do to ready these materials.

I'd like to help if you'll allow me to.

What do you need exactly?  The Database? Wheels? Videos? I've managed to get almost all of that from various places.
