The following topics will help guide you in installing and configuring emulators and other programs in HS. Since most programs and emulators run differently we will try to go through each one seperately as its own topic. Due to different operating systems and computer specs there might be slight differences between what you see here and what you need to actually do for your own setup. Hopefully these guides will get you going in the right direction.
Now that you’ve installed HyperSpin, it’s time to set up your emulators within the frontend. Since HyperSpin’s main focus is running the MAME emulator, we’ll look at setting it up first and making the necessary changes to the settings INI file using Hyper HQ (we’ll refer to it simply as HQ from here on out). Once we’re done, we’ll take a look at what you can expect to see and discuss different features that you can control using HQ.
Before you start working with HQ, you’ll want to make sure you have a couple things ready:
- First, your emulator should be completely set up and running OUTSIDE of HyperSpin. That means you have roms or other necessary game files organized where they belong and you are sure the program works the way it should.
- Second, know the location of your emulator’s executable file, rom/game file paths, and the paths of any intro videos you will be using.
Once you’re sure everything works outside of HyperSpin, you’ll be ready to start.
