Box Art, Carts, Flyers etc...
HyperSpin isnt just about themes, you can still display your favorite artwork collected or downloaded from our site. Box art is a popular type of art to use in HyperSpin and is typically used for console systems. A default theme determines where your box art or carts (cartridge art) should go. The default theme is the vision of its designer. So maybe that designer wanted you to have your box art show up in a certain layer in HyperSpin. For example, say a theme designer created a default theme that looks pretty cool and they wanted you to use box art for that theme. That theme should have a text file in the zip telling you which folder to place your box or cart art.
All artwork that is not native to the theme will go into one of four folders: Artwork1, Artwork2, Artwork3, or Artwork4. You will find these folders in your Media\Images folder for each system. Each artwork folder represents a specific depth of layering in HyperSpin. Thats why they are named that way instead of being named Box Art or Titles, etc.. If a default theme states that you should place your box art in the Artwork2 folder, then that's where you place them. Then, your box art will be animated and show up on the exact layer that the theme designer intended. Of course you can always design your own default theme and have your artwork in any folder you want. If you place your box art in any other folder, then they probably will not show up in HyperSpin or they could show up in a different location on the theme, which would look pretty funny.
You may be wondering where to place those Box Art, Flyers, or Carts sets you've downloaded from the HyperSpin downloads page. HyperSpin comes with default system themes for several console systems. Although you can browse through the Images\Artwork folders for each of these systems trying to hunt down where you should place this artwork, we've listed below the default locations for where to place your art.
