***UPDATE***

It's changed my external storage names, but still automatically mount's them. But had to change the ROM path in the (.ini) from (sdcard1/sdcard2).

Can't edit external files with (es file explorer).

Gives you the option to mount external as Internal, but it'll obviously format the drive and delete everything, and will then possibly encrypt everything so you can no longer edit on a PC/laptop :/

The Shield ATV Android M update is good.   The tablet update will require an update for USBdrives.  It's lacking a proper mount path.   I'm told it's only a few weeks away.   Internal sdcard and ext-sdcards do work on tablets.

So yes, M does change how external storage (sdcards, usbdrives) are mounted.    They are mounted as /storage/<UUID>.

UUID is the hardware ID/name of your storage media (it looks random, but it's a static name/volume if you attach/re-attach)..

The updated Hyperspin .apk accounts for this automatically.

You can leave your .ini files alone IF you put them in your /Hyperspin folder.   I have my roms in /storage/<UUID>/Hyperspin/Emulators/<system>/ so my romfolder in .ini are all named =Emulators/<system>/.

This keeps it simple.    This allows me to copy my setup between sdcards and usbdrives on the Shield portable and Shield TV.

Works great both local and USB on the Shield tv pro.  Found an interesting bug tho.  For the past week I've been setting up an external USB drive for a friend so he can just plug it in and get going with hyperspin.  I do this by renaming my Hyperspin folder Hyperpsin2 and plugging his drive in.  All loaded fine before the update and also worked after the update.  The problem came when I went to rename my folder back to Hyperspin.  When I loaded up all the videos and wheels were missing.  Restarting thinking maybe it was still trying to source everything from the now unmounted USB, and got the same result.  I check my HS folder and it turns out all media is gone except for the themes.  Very strange occurrence, not sure what would cause it.  All my other files in the HS folder are fine. All roms were there and databases and android settings folder were untouched.  It just chose to delete all images and mp4s from the media folder.  Actually that's not even true because the hyperspin launch video still loaded.  No big deal as I keep redundant backups of my HS folders, just thought it was an interesting bug.

Any thoughts Reznate?

reznate post #5

doesn't make sense. Need to know a path. I fn did a factory reset to go back to old setting and it erased all my shit and still at 3.0. The old settings were usb1 so what should my path be in ini file

I'm at my last hair. My rom path is =/storage/usbdrive/Games/Mame/roms

What do I need to set it at? I tried UIID with no luck.

I got it it's the long a$$ number before you mount usb. What a pain to have to change all those numbers. Why can't you record anymore? Is it a bug

Badhemi -- this path /storage/usbdrive/  is no longer valid on M.   It only worked on L.

If you have Shield Android TV, use ES File Explorer to determine your drive's UDID value.   THEN, /storage/<udid value> should work for you.

If you have a tablet, you must use internal storage or ext-sdcard (again, use es file explorer to determine the udid).   NVIDIA needs to post an update that adds a (/storage/) mount point for the usbdrive file system.

If record is broken, then yes, it's a bug.   I'll report it.    With so much new stuff (M, Vulkan drivers, etc.), I'd expect a bug fix update soon.

Regarding missing data, that should not happen.   Are you SURE?   If you remove the media and check on your PC, are the files really deleted?

Hyperspin wouldn't do that.    Let me know in personal message if you can figure out what happened.
