Windows update 2004 fix?

Recommended Posts

I just recently built a new computer for my arcade. I grabbed the most recent copy of windows version 2004. Are there any known workarounds for hyperspin on this version of windows?

Yeah, you need just sxs.dll from a pre 2004 windows inside HS main folder :)

Anyway for an arcade cab probably it wopuld be better to use windows LTSC 😛

I've recently had the 2004 update and added the dll but Hyperspin does not start.

Try getting the file from your own Windows.old folder

This was listed as a "fix" however I also posted a thread about this. I updated to 2004 once I saw this thread, copied and pasted the sxs.dll from the Windows Old folder, nothing. Rolled back to 1909 a second time. No idea why this tends to cure some machines and not others.

Possibly Windows blocking the file? After downloading the file, right click on it and click 'Properties' then at the bottom of the page there is a checkbox to 'Unblock' the file

Also, if you run Hyperspin before applying the fix it will still actually be running (even though you can't see it) so you'll need to 'end task' from task manager or reboot first.
