Best to post this in another thread. You'll get more traction.

Actually, yes.. It does take a lot of time, patience and digging. But the end result is the best. I would recommend cloning one or two drives as a back up as you never want to do this again. But, take the time to make some friends, ask some questions and you'll not regret it. My advise is to do one system at a time and make it work first. Having several up and running never works and you get frustrated. Spend some dough on being a gold or platinum member

and it actually gets to be fun!

I don't know... at this point... if I want to set up a new system it usually takes me less than ten minutes. I don't find it to be that time consuming at all anymore. I think the most time consuming part for people is finding resources. Renaming roms? No problem. Custom database? 5 minutes top. Clicking through HyperlaunchHQ, reading module notes, setting up to launch, 2 minutes. At this point, practically ALL the hard work is done for you in the form of the modules and the artwork.

There are some troublesome systems, sure, but I don't buy "you need to be a computer guru to get this running" anymore. Why I even remember a time before Troubleshooting Logs. 3rd party apps take care of almost every contingency. And I'm a complete computer noob.

Ultimately I think a lot of us just FIND TIME to mess with hyperspin, tweak systems, etc. because its a FUN hobby. Not because it's particularly difficult.

I have been working with HyperSpin for all of about 3-4 months now and I love it. It's not an off-the-shelf-5-minute-solution and that's fine with me. For me, it's a process and a hobby more than an end product and that's what I enjoy. I would rather spend my time debugging emulators, configuring joysticks and auditing roms/isos then work or watch TV. I know, I'm weird :) I suspect that people that get frustrated early on are more focused on the end result rather than enjoying the process.

And don't get me wrong about HyperSpin; I found it simple to setup and understand. It is all of the components behind it that make this into a giant jigsaw puzzle :)

Welcome to the forum Visruss.

And the more they add the more complicated it seems or becomes. Which is fine if you understand it, but for new people it can be overwhelming. Hell way back when I joined, I was overwhelmed by HyperSpin alone.

I'm almost in the same boat. You just take a vacation and when you come back there is updates, you found more systems to add, etc. It's an endless roller-coaster of MADNESS :D but in the end is the fun and the community. BTW I consider a good Arcade representation, ONLY one with mame working. I mean, if you only have to get one full arcade experience, just with a mame configuration in it's fullness will constitute a.... I'M DONE statement.

Just with the full catalog there its a endless gaming paradise.

The situation complicates when you add consoles, NEW Arcade systems, or *shrugs* those old and complicated to configure systems *shrugs*

I am into hypersync as a hobby during my freetime and keen to upgrade myself into something new. I have successfully setup some simple systems such as nes, snes, mame, gameboy , n64 but dont remember if my arcade been setup properly or not yet. Retroarch made life easier with wide vareties of cores. What I have been doing is collecting files per system. I dont take it as must do routine but only for free time as life is boring sometimes and need to remember childhood days.

It is easy to set up Hyperspin and takes no time at all. The only downside is the actual roms and renaming them if you want to stick to the official Hyperspin XML files. You have the cloud now such as MSN cloud with 29 gigs of storage so all what you have to do is upload to there and maybe other accounts and then protect you're data, any problems just download and bang and Hyperspin is back up and running in the space of a day with hard drive failures, it is not rocket science.

Speaking of which, I haven't posted on this board in months! Almost pulled a BBB on all y'all.

Also, those that think that buying a pre-configured drive will solve your problems are mistaken. Every personal computer is different and you will inevitably encounter issues. Best for you to have knowledge of how to setup HyperSpin so for when that time does come around, you are able to solve the problem on your own. Those pre-configured drives are more than questionable. Once you buy one and need support, good luck. That Upchurch guy will make you ship that drive back to him at your cost and then back to you with another charge, then there is a service fee he will charge you again. I met a few of his customers and that is how things go when you send your money his way. Same goes for drives from other sellers. Those guys aren't about making a good product. They just want your money.

So Craig Anderson is working with Upchurch now?

Gives you a shoutout a couple of times in this video.

Where did he get the Touhou Project wheels and stuff? not on the FTP.

You should have left your original post ;) I feel the same way.

Seems to be a lot of people ripping people off in one way or another, some seem to be getting off on it.

I'm getting a bit jaded by the whole scene.

I think its just due to the amount of work you have pumped out craig for free. Hehehe, I seen the vid where he has a rant for pople selling his work... which he "pinched" from somone else.. which they "pinched" from other art. If people had a brain they would realize that its actually free.

You do make some great work though, so if anything I would class it as a compliment
