Copying files over to another hard drive.

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone can recommend software for copying files over to another drive.

I just bought a bigger hard drive and I'm afraid of getting the windows file path name too long errors.

So more looking for something that will copy everything over and trust worthy.

Specially with all the work and time I've put in so far. lol

Supercopier beta 2 is what I use when I need to copy files.

For backup purposes, I use clonezilla and backup my HS setup to my NAS (takes about 2,5 Tb)

How big is it? Why not use an online back up, I use Dropbox but have 1TB of storage. If your just backing up Hyperspin you don't need much and as your platinum you don't need to be concerned about the media.

Once backed up just copy and paste over to the new drive, is there usually problems with copy and paste?

Like Hazzard Actual I also use Acronis but only to create an OS image, I suppose I could use it to compress Hyperspin.

I'am more so copying/moving my set up files from a 1.5tb drive to a 5tb drive.

Just wanna make sure everything gets copy over to the 5tb. evene if the file name paths are to long.

I'll eventually use something like clonezilla to make a backup on my 8tb.

I recently did this. I just copied everything over from D:\Hyperspin to H:\Hyperspin. Worked like a charm. Did not get any long file name errors. Had the change some paths after but that was it.

I just switched from a 2TB drive to a 6TB drive. After hooking my new HD in my current computer, I right clicked the Hyperspin folder, clicked copy, opened the new drive, right clicked again, hit paste, and all was good after a few hours.

I use WinMerge to make sure my backup's are a perfect clone of my Media Center system and i use old school Ctrl A, Ctrl C then Ctrl X too.

Acronis to create an OS image backup.

I do everything the old manual way. I enjoy playing the Microsoft minute mini game. Can you accurately guess how long 1 minute remaining actually takes?

I use Aomei backupper. Works great for me cloning complete hdd, copying single partitions, and making backups.
