These are my Genre backgrounds for the Sega Genesis/MD. You can see a few examples above. Put these in 'Media\Sega Genesis\Images\Genre\Backgrounds' in your Hyperspin folder. These go with my Sega Genesis/MegaDrive genre fix and include xmls and images from @SupraKarma's Ultimate Genesis pack. (Linked below) I've included the xmls here for convenience, but head here for more details. There are multiple backgrounds for some genres so definitely please take a look and pick which you prefer. Just rename without the attached number. Enjoy!
  6. Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Genres Fixed View File I have been chipping away for the last few weeks giving the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive the same treatment as with my SNES genre fix and backgrounds. I have edited genre information from @SupraKarma's xml from the Ultimate Sega Genesis Pack. Basically if you want to use the Genesis/MD genre function it's worth grabbing this xml. I've included with the zip the xmls already split by genre and also a handful of useful xmls from SupraKarma's pack such as coop, exclusives, multiplayer etc. Everything has custom backgrounds included. My approach to this xml was more thorough than when I originally went through the SNES xml which I fixed in order of worst offenders to least genre wise. This time I went through from start to finish and judged every title individually based on video, wikipedia entries and other lists and resources. The occasional game I loaded up to play a bit to be sure. My results went back to the SNES xml in cases of multiplatform games and that been tidied up a bit and re-uploaded for consistency, the link is below if you are interested. Roughly what has been done: This XML was the opposite of the SNES in the case that a huge amount of titles were assigned to 'Platform'. Randomly every 20 titles or so something was assigned to 'Platform' that was just in no way shape or form a platforming game. Many titles were also moved to more appropriate places - usually 'Action'. The 'Shoot em up' category was filled. Previously they were in 'Shooter' 'Educational' was added and the correct games assigned. Many games were assigned to 'Adventure', generally 'Action-RPG' type titles which have less emphasis on stats and strategy. 'Arcade' was added. Titles that were ported from arcade versions, classic arcade compilations or even newer titles that have arcade type gameplay (e.g. fix it felix). Beat em ups that qualified for this however were left in the 'Beatemup' genre (e.g. GoldenAxe) I opted to move the flight sims into it's own category 'Flying' (in staying consistent with the snes xml) as there were enough titles to warrant it's own category. Numerous other corrections which I've forgotten. The Sports categories for the most part were correct as were Beat em ups, so thanks to whoever put that work in. I did opt to remove some categories from sports such as bowling and skating and move those titles to the general 'Sports' category as they only contained a single title. I also removed the compilation category and assigned those to relevant sections. Thanks again to @SupraKarma whose awesome Ultimate packs have inspired this work and also where the xmls, wheels and sports category backgrounds are from. The Ultimate Sega Genesis pack is linked below. Below are links to the Backgrounds that accompany this xml (though they are included in this upload for convenience) and to my SNES genre fix. Please let me know if i'm missing anything in the upload or anything doesn't seem right. Enjoy! Submitter Rowr14 Submitted 04/26/2018 Category Databases (XML) Credits @SupraKarma

Unless I've overlooked something, there was no section to upload letter packs to, so I uploaded this pack as a 'pointer' instead. Someone should fix this. These letters have been created using the 'Tahoma' font, which is the font used in the Dreamcast logo. It's very close to the actual font, only very slight differences (that you probably won't notice unless you're trying to).

  22. UHD Sega Dreamcast Jewel Case Project WIP View File The "UHD Sega Dreamcast Jewel Case Project" is a team effort between myself, @fire10, and @Black Hazor. It is very much a work in progress. Our goal is to provide the community with a Ultra Hi Definition, future-proofed set of Sega Dreamcast box art. Black Hazor has managed to collect high quality scans for over half of the current official database, and has actually volunteered to purchase some of the missing games. He truly jumpstarted this project... because I was on the fence about just putting together something far less extraordinary. Fire10 started this project, and has contributed design ideas, invaluable feedback, and is currently working on 'special' jewel cases that will not work with the basic templates we've already designed. Thanks goes to @goofers for providing the PAL template. Special thanks to @Avar, @Kondorito, for feedback and tips, and especially @JSinn for help polishing the final versions of our templates. A regular HD project is already in the works. It will include everything from this project resized to usable HyperSpin 1.4 sizes. Since this project will not be finished any time soon, that project will be finished first most likely. When this one is complete, that one will become obsolete. I will be uploading material as it becomes available. Expect there to be updates. Version 1.0 of this project includes the following: 1. The original source materials that Black Hazor has collected. If you need 2D scans, the file you want is '___Original Source Material.7z.' Rather than make things confusing, future uploads of source material will be named as such: Missings (version number here). So if the current version of this project is 1.3, the file will be called Missings 1.3.7z. 2. The templates we are currently using. We are currently satisfied with the templates we have, but if they get updated, I will state such in future updates. 3. A set of photoshop .psd files with all of the PAL set from the current database, sized and snapped to guides, ready to be batched using photoshop actions. This file is called ___Batch PAL.7z. I considered putting instructions here on how to run batch actions to files, but decided against it. There are videos on youtube for that sort of thing. Both the layers are smart objects, meaning they can be resized and altered as much as you like, without losing quality. Thanks to JSinn for making me aware of this. The basic idea is, if someone even more finicky than myself wants to clean the scans for white specks and blemishes and whatnot, they can do so, then run a batch, and then the community will have an even better set. The spines had to be resized first prior to making them smart objects. Photoshop actions has no practical way to resize specific layers specific dimensions (which is what I really needed). It will let you enter in pixels instead of percentage (by specifying "1363px" for example), but when you go to run a batch, it will not respect that and use percentage instead. Lame. 4. The UHD PAL set from the database. Currently one game is missing. (you will need to make copies and rename multi disc games) __UHD PAL.7z is the file you want, if you came here for that. Missings List If you happen to own any of the games in this list, and are able to provide UHD scans (1360x1360 or better) for both the fronts and the backs, please upload the scan to the following thread: This list will be updated as I upload more materials, and with future updates. Europe Flintstones, The - Viva Rock Vegas (Europe) (Proto) USA Atari Anniversary Edition (USA) - back only Street Fighter III - 3rd Strike - Fight for the Future (USA) - back only Japan TBD Unlicensed TBD Submitter SupraKarma Submitted 06/13/2017 Category Box Packs HyperBase Version Media Dimensions File Count Credits

  25. [OFFICIAL ] Sega Dreamcast XMLdatabase 6-7-2017 View File This is a combination of the official hyperlist xml, the 'official' thread that Tonesmalones and others contributed to, and work done by me. I'm trying to steer away from renaming 'ROM' names. It's a hassle for the entire community. At the end of the day the 'game name' or 'file name' is irrelevent, what displays in HyperSpin (currently, the description) is what matters. Big changes are coming with the way we do databases, but for now, I prefer to change the 'description' name only, unless the ROM name is particularly offensive to me (e.g. Sega Rally Championship 2 instead of Sega Rally 2: Sega Rally Championship. Also not that Tonesmalones made it a point to utilize semicolons in the descriptions. I agree with this, it looks more 'professional' like a movie title. Hyphens will still be used for games like Street Fighter 3: Third Strike - Fight for the Future, also in certain instances, like Resident Evil - Code: Veronica. What I'm trying to avoid is double instances of anything. It looks sloppy. Again, these changes are only in the description, the filenames will use hyphens for everything. I understand that the current consensus is to include 'everything playable,' even mahjong games that require you to navigate a Japanese menu to even play. I have mixed feelings on this. I didn't include stuff like this because I consider it culturally insignificant. If you take issue with this, speak up. But it's more work for everyone involved - it means someone has to make a 'Hentai Tentacle Master Gangbang Mahjong part 5' wheel, box art, video, etc. I have no desire for these kind of stuff in the official list, playable or not. Games that are either 'unplayable' or 'culturally insignificant' have been exported to an 'exclude' list. The idea is, you can easily merge the official list and the exclude list, to have every game if you so desire. This should please everyone. If you're mad that a game wasn't included, well, there's the exclude list. Feel free to add it yourself. If you believe there have been errors made, and some Japanese games belong in the main list, by all means, bring it to my attention, we'll make it happen. Games have been checked for publisher and rating accuracy. The list is certifiably 96% accurate, there me be minor updates as I continue to work on my 'Ultimate Sega Dreamcast' project. As always, if there are errors, feel free to bring them to my attention. We all want the same thing here - accurate data. Submitter SupraKarma Submitted 06/07/2017 Category Databases (XML) Credits
