This Python script filter and clean your sets of games (roms and Mame) depending on your configuration. You can filter by country, genre and romc only take the best dump as possible. Finaly, romc will generate the HyperSpin database of the set you cleaned. Find more informations and get the latest version on the GitHub : https://github.com/bsymon/romc You need Python 2.7 (https://www.python.org/downloads/) , and these dependencies : lxml, BeautifulSoup, google Use pip to install the dependencies : https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/user_guide.html#installing-packages pip is bundled by default with Python 2.7. Changelog 1.2.2 Fixed the covers was named with the cleaned name, instead of the original name. Update Rom parser regex, for better filtering. 1.2.1 Better name cleaning. Name like "King of Fighters EX2, The - Howling Blood" are now cleaned like this : "The King of Fighters EX2 - Howling Blood" 1.2 Updated you can now download covers for your games (only with JVC API).
  7. Is there a program/script that will scan my ROM folder that will then in turn only allow Hyperspin to display what's in my ROM folder? Don's list generator doesn't do that, and I don't want to add all of my 100+ ROMS item by item. Any help is greatly appreciated, especially if you've ever used HyperRom2XML!
  8. Hey guys, There are quite a few guides out there, but I have not been able to find a noob or intermediate guide for HyperSpin, Hyperlaunch, HyperSync, and MAME in one place. I built one and hope it helps. http://gameroomsolutions.com/setup-hyperspin-mame-hyperlaunch-full-guide/ Please let me know if there are other pieces I should add to help others. Thanks,
  9. Hello HyperSpin world, Like many others, I just took a step into creating my first HyperSpin intro video. Original HyperSpin Derezzed Intro: New "shorter" version of HyperSpin Derezzed Intro: ** UPDATE ** Two new intro videos here for your enjoyment: Flynn's Intro (this is my personal one for my HyperSpin project) TRON Intro ** UPDATE ** - 09/04/14 New Flynn's intro - Added "ENCOM Presents" lead-in. Let me know what you think...I'd like some feedback, either way. Thank you, Craig - Atlanta, Ga. USA
  10. Ran across this site. The machines look nice, but they are openly selling HyperSpin and every system/rom with it. http://www.tinyarcademachines.com/mame-arcade-machines.html He is even posting the Hyperspin txt output for the games that are "included". He does have a legal disclaimer page, but in my mind it has to be a stretch. Some please tell me this legal page does not cover legal exposure as I am opening a shop tomorrow if it does. JK http://www.tinyarcademachines.com/legal.html Am I crazy or is this guy like breaking about every law/rule there is out there?
  11. Hey All. First time poster but long time reader :-) Anyway, A little while ago I decided to build an Arcade machine as a father son project. Seemed like a good idea at the time and a great way to re-live my child hood. From a simple 2 player table top concept, I have designed and built this baby... Upright 4 player. I have sourced components from Ultimarc (Andy has been awesome with his assistance) and learnt everything from scratch. Of course it is running HS front end (AMAZING). 27" LCD Screen I have included a trackball (Because it looks cool when lit up) Have 2 x U360 joysticks (to assist with analogue games) Have 2 x Servosticks with auto 4 and 8 way switching Running 2 x PACLED 64 controllers. Running 1 x IPAC 4 controller I've upgraded everything to USB Integrated PS3 controllers for Dreamast/GameCube platform via bluetooth oh.... almost forgot to mention the logitech triple sub sound system. I'm really struggling to choose the buttons. I have tested the ULTIMARC RGB ULTRALUX chrome and Standard RGB buttons (Ultimarc). I want all the buttons to be RGB so trying to decide between the chrome or translucent button trims. They are convex buttons, but the light is consistent and they look amazing. It prob sounds a little silly and perhaps I have spent too much time thinking about this, but it is consuming my world as I want to get it finished. As i'm sure we can all appreciate, the learning from the beginning is huge. I would love some feedback and thoughts.... I plan on wrapping this machine with a MARVEL and DC COMIC mixed theme... T-Mould slots are ready and will do some LED lighting etc.... I would love to get some feedback if you would like to share. Be kind, i'm about as nooby as they get.
  12. Based the design off the WeeCade but hand drew it onto the mdf(3/4). Was going to go with a strictly classics single player cab with six buttons for things like MK2 and SF2, but I got my hands on a free computer with a PhenomX4(only 1.8Ghz) and 4Gb of ram, so I decided to do more with it. Running Hyperspin with hand selected MAME games (around 110 so far), SNES, NES, Genesis, N64 and Computer games. I threw this one together for ~$200 between buying Tmolding, paint, primer, sandpaper, acrylic, misc cords, fans, speakers, amp, etc. I had the buttons, computer was given to me with the 640gb hdd. and I got the monitor(17") at goodwill for $25, also had a few misc items lying around. Audio amp from Amazon, small form factor 300W PSU. Soldered in a power strip to the C-14 outlet. Also the back of the custom button inlay Custom plexy speaker shrouds. Still not sure if I want to seal them or let the light shine through. I kinda like them how they are Mixed blue and white buttons and a Sanwa Joystick. Had an old leaf switch joystick in there, but it sucked. Wires and oldschool ipac that I had bought from a cousin last year USB and audio out for headphones. Fan exhaust and custom power button. Standard arcade button was too long and wouldn't allow the door to close so I cut it and put a smaller button inside and hot glued the crap out of it. Works great and is recessed enough that you cant accidentally bump it. Did the same with the USB port. The paint finish turned out AMAZING. Used high gloss rattlecan; primed x3 with wet sanding in between, then 5x coats of gloss white with wet sanding in between. you can see your reflection in it.
  13. Hey Hyperspinners! I picked up a Centipede cab through a local ad. It has been gutted (i.e. no monitor, arcade board, or controls). Sideart, Marquee, and Bezel are intact and though it needs some work I plan to keep the original artwork the same and put a MAME machine inside. My question is what all do I need to interface with the computer? I would like to obviously have a trackball, one joystick (suggestions welcome for 8-way or what I should use) and 2-3 buttons. Do I use a Jpac to interface? Will that work with the trackball too or does it need it's own interface? The goal is to have it look like an authentic Centipede machine (save for a joystick) and play the classic era games (two player if it is turn-based using only one controller) so I don't think I need a bunch of buttons and I want to use the existing control panel if I can (just drill a few more holes for the controller and any extra buttons). Sorry this post is so disjointed. Any help or suggestions are welcome. Want to use it for games like: frogger, centipede, donkey kong, pacman, asteroids, etc., etc. Thanks guys! p.s. Once I have the controller layout figured out I play to get a proper Control Panel Overlay printed (in the style of the original one with the extra placements for the controller and any extra buttons).
  14. Hello All, I am looking to build a cocktail style cabinet. Just 2 players (joystick on each end...not along the side). My question is regarding joysticks. Is there a list or spreadsheet (or a way of searching MAME) to find which roms use a 4 way joystick and which ones use 8 way? I currently have an upright acrade that uses the Mag-Stick from Ultimarc...that switches between 4/8. This works fine, but i would like to use just a 4-way joystick if possible...but not sure how many games i will sacrifice if i choose that option. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.
  15. Hi guys, I'm looking at getting a reproduction Nintendo cabinet made up and are going to go for Mario vs Donkey Kong theme. I'm just after some artwork advice as I'm having trouble deciding on a marquee and looking for suggestions and or opinions, especially any from the skilled artists on this forum. Here's a rough render at what I'm doing: Here are some marquee options: White background. Red background. Red and orange stripe background. Red, white and orange stripe background. Orange fading into red background. Red into orange and back to red again. What marquee do you like? I also added a fireball in the last two marquees, should I keep the fireball or lose the fireball? Any alternative suggestions? Cheers.
  16. Hello fellow 'Spinners' first off I want to thank everyone on this site for all of their hardwork, dedication and all-out awesomeness at creating, maintaining, and resurrecting this 'retro' scene. I first discovered Hyperspin about 8 months ago when I began work on my first MAME cabinet and have never looked back! Though I haven't formally introduced myself nor posted on these forums before I have read alot of the posts and gotten so much help from everyone here that I feel like I know some of you already. Today I come to you with a question (or several maybe). I recently bought an old 'Grand Champion' standup driving cabinet (Taito, 1981) everything works great and all, but I just wonder what the process would be to use the Steering Wheel, Accelerator pedal, and Low/high shifter with mame? Can you interface these through a computer? Or am I gonna be faced with scrapping them in place of a USB equivalent? They obviously work with the arcade board that is in there, but does anyone on here have any experience with converting single game driving cabinets into Mame cabinets that would play several driving games using the existing hardware? I am honestly torn between fixing this one up and leaving it original (as it is more than 30 years old) or still cleaning it up, but converting it to Mame to be my 'racing game' cabinet. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
