  1. Version 1.5

--[ Purpose ]------------------------------------------------- Controls the order the controllers appear in the "Game Controllers" list in Windows. --[ Reason ]-------------------------------------------------- The order they appear in are used in some emulators and games to define the order they should be used. For example, the top one in the list is Joy1. Second one Joy2 etc. Problem here is threefold. 1: The list is not always the same after a restart so you have to remap all your controllers in the emulators that use this setup. 2: If you plug in another controller, it will (most of the time) not go to the end of the list but in the middle somewhere, messing up the order of the other controllers. 3: Even if everything is as you think it should be, your first joystick might be called Joy3 in the games/emulators and it just looks ugly =) --[ Usage ]--------------------------------------------------- Connect all the controllers that you want to have a permanent location in the list. Run "Tur-Game_Controller_Order.exe" as administrator and it will list all the controllers and ask you, one by one which location it should have in the list (basically, where you want it to appear. 1 = top) That will create a Settings.ini file. If that file exists the next time you run it, it will simply go through the controllers and reorder them, silently. Remove or rename Settings.ini to get it to run again. You can also create more then one Settings.ini file if you have different setups. Simply specify which .ini file it should work with when running it, for example "Tur-Game_Controller_Order.exe Settings2.ini" By default, when you run it with a Settings.ini present, it will just run once and exit, but you can have it running all the time, checking the order every few seconds or so. This is good if you have some controllers plugged in some of the time but want to be able to plug in others without them appearing in the middle of the list. Edit Settings.ini and change DaemonMode=False to True. DaemonModeDelay= is how many seconds to wait between each check. 5-10 seconds is a good value IMO. --[ Notes for BlissBox users ]-------------------------------- If you own a BlissBox you must update the firmware first so the ports get unique HIDs and names. See here: http://atarigalore.wix.com/4play They should appear as 4-Play_port1 to port4 (at least at the time of writing. As long as they are unique its OK.) --[ Limitations ]--------------------------------------------- One big limitation is this. Say you have 3 controllers connected that are Joy1, Joy2 and Joy3 in the emulators/games. If you unplug the first controller in the list (Joy1), the others will shift up and Joy2 will become Joy1 etc. There is no way around that at the moment, except for creating a dummy Joy1 controller to put at the top of the list. I have yet to figure that one out easely. Always keep your permanetly connected controllers at the top of the list to overcome this. --[ Other hints ]--------------------------------------------- You must set UAC to "Never Notify" if you want this program to run on startup automatically as its running as a local administrator. You also can not just make a shortcut to your Startup folder for it as windows will not allow it. In the "Extras" folder you'll find a small VBS script that just runs it from the same location as the exe, so copy the VBS to where you have Tur-Game_Controller_Order.exe and make a shortcut to the VBS file to your Startup folder in Windows. Any controllers connected that are NOT in the Settings.ini file when you run it will automatically go to the end of the list. I include a program called "List_Controllers.exe" as well. This only lists all the connected controllers and the HID for it. You can use this if you want to add a controller to an already existing Settings.ini file. Just copy the HID shown into Settings.ini. When manually editing Settings.ini, make sure the ports start with Port1, Port2 and there are no gaps in the numbering.
  3. Your expert help is requested: I have freshly installed for HS 1.4 and RL but ran into a snag when testing my setup after enabling the XIN-MO controllers in HYPERHQ. It was my understanding that version 1.4 brings support for Joystick navigation without the need for a key-mapper. Is there an additional step beyond enabling the "Joystick" in HYPERHQ?

  6. I am currently in the process of converting a PandoraBox cabinet into a Mame machine and so purchased a Jamma -> USB card. The card is seen in windows (10 64 bit) as two 3H Dual Arcade controllers but when I go to check the joysticks or buttons the PC is not receiving any of the inputs. I could have a broken card or the wiring in this cabinet is not standard Jamma. Can anyone tell me if the wiring for PandoraBox is standard? (When I connect everything back up it all works with the PandoraBox cartridge). I have uploaded a pic of the card incase anyone recognises it. (All I did was remove the Pandorabox cartridge and connect this card in its place.) Appreciate any help / support!
  7. Putting together a PC for installation in a jamma cabinet. Can you tell me which systems work well just having joystick and button inputs? (2 Joysticks, 6 buttons each player plus pinball buttons on the side, coin entry, 1 & 2 player start) Appreciate any help.
  8. I am looking to paint my new arcade controls - (top knobs only) Normally I would just go and replace them with colored ones but is it possible to lightly paint on them? If so, what kind of paint do you recommend? See image below.
  9. Hello everyone, The Howler Arcade controller is now live: Check it out on Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2034467396/howler-arcade-controller Here is the Video: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2034467396/howler-arcade-controller/widget/video.html Here are a few details: The Howler Arcade Controller is a 4 joystick, 26 button, gamepad controller, keyboard controller, mouse controller, 96 channel LED driver USB composite device designed for interfacing to controls on a home arcade system. Thanks, Josh
  10. Hello All, I am looking to build a cocktail style cabinet. Just 2 players (joystick on each end...not along the side). My question is regarding joysticks. Is there a list or spreadsheet (or a way of searching MAME) to find which roms use a 4 way joystick and which ones use 8 way? I currently have an upright acrade that uses the Mag-Stick from Ultimarc...that switches between 4/8. This works fine, but i would like to use just a 4-way joystick if possible...but not sure how many games i will sacrifice if i choose that option. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.
  11. I have been talking about building a cabinet for years and finally have started. I will be building a 4 player control panel style that hooks up to any TV with an HDMI cable. One cool thing about my cabinet is that I designed my own controller. I want to be able to light all my buttons and joysticks with an RGB LED and configure my buttons and joysticks as keyboard inputs, mouse inputs or joystick inputs but there was no controller that could do everything an it would have cost over $250 to get what I wanted and required 5+ circuit boards. I am an Electronics Engineer so I said screw it and I designed my own! So the Howler Controller was born: Here are what the specs WILL be for my controller (Hardware 100% operational, working on firmware now): 4 Joysticks (each with RGB LED drive) - Each joystick consists of 4 inputs and 3 LED drive outputs (for RGB lit joysticks). Inputs can be configured as buttons if joystick operation is not needed. - Each joystick can be configured as a USB keyboard, USB Digital Joystick, USB Analog Joystick, USB mouse (for spinners and trackballs) 26 buttons (each with RGB LED drive) - Each button consists of 1 input and 3 LED drive outputs (for RGB lit buttons) - Each button can be configured as a USB Keyboard keypress, USB Joystick button press, or USB Mouse Button press Other features: - Each LED has 255 levels of brightness for 16 MILLION color combinations! - Working on config program which allows unlimited configuration combinations of USB Keyboard, USB Mouse and USB Joysticks (multiple). - Requires only 1 USB connection per circuit board. - USB controller is powered from USB and LEDs are powered with external supply (+3.3V to +12V, whatever user chooses) - Total number of LEDs that can be individually controller (255 levels) is 92! 3x as much as other controllers! - Working on command line program to set LEDs so that it may be integrated with Hyperspin to set button/joystick colors for each individual game. (NES games will light up 2x RED buttons, TMNT arcade will light up each controller as the original arcade did (purple, blue, orange, red!). I will be posting more pics of my cabinet as it gets built. If anyone is interested in my controller, let me know!
