No disrespect intended towards the original development team of this database, but I did my own work on this. The finished result has 261 games.
My list includes the following:
1. All American/European/Australian exclusive GB No Intro games marked with "SGB Enhanced" (except Game Boy Camera ROMs)
2. All 'other region,' Japanese and Japanese English Translated "SGB Enhanced" tagged GB games from the No Intro set already found in the official Game Boy development database by JayC.
3. All American/European/Australian exclusive GBC No Intro games marked with "SGB Enhanced"
4. All 'other region,' Japanese and Japanese English Translated "SGB Enhanced" tagged GBC games from the No Intro set already found in the official Game Boy development database by agent47.
5. The remaining 29 or so games from the original HyperList database. I tested them all, removed a couple that give the 'this game is designed to work on a game boy color' message, and added meta data in the 'year' field if they seemed to have a special default palette.
I tested every single game for functionality with RetroArch BSNES Balanced core. It was a solid day's work. They all worked, although a sizeable percentage had graphical glitches, because the SGB emulation is far from perfect. Also note that having 'rewind' enabled in RetroArch can crash the emulator or cause black screens, and save states crash many of the games. I've created core overrides for RetroArch to disable save state hotkeys for all affected games - PM me if you would like this.
Now, I actually liked the extra information in the 'date' field (e.g. *special borders), so when I created this list, I used the meta data primarily from that, then merged it with the meta data from the official development lists. I then removed language and rev tags, and replaced hyphens with colons in the descriptions, as per the development db standards.
I make no claims that I what I present here is perfect. I made it a point to not add any clones - and I don't believe there are, but there may have been one or two that slipped by. I made no changes to the meta data. I just don't care enough about this system to put any more effort into it - I simply wanted a complete list of all SGB games. One thing particularly bothering me is European games with ESRB ratings. But I just don't have the patience to put any more effort into this system. It would be awesome if someone else would pick up the torch and improve what I've built here but I don't see that happening. *bites tongue*
