Introduction and experience so far

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to drop a line to introduce myself and to share some of the experience I had so far setting up HyperSpin.

First of all, a couple of thank you's.

Thank you to the devs (all of them) for such a suite of brilliant applications. I apologise for such a 'broad' inclusion but seriously, HyperSpin, RocketLauncher, StartupScript, HyperTools, Renaming Tools (......) are an absolute godsend to create that customised home Arcade machine I've been dreaming of for years.

Thank you to the community. I have to admit that setting up HS, RL, HQ (...) is not as simple as 1,2,3 but it is not rocket science either. There is loads of helpful members on this forum that have posted various tutorials & guides to assist us setting up that sweet setup.  A special mention to Austin's HyperSpin Playlist is due as for me, it is where is all started. After trying a whole bunch of front end, watching those videos had given me the necessary knowledge to get started with HyperSpin.

blah blah blah ...

Now for the fun part ...

I'm now on my fourth install/config and I think I have finally found the sweet spot!

One of the main problem I was having is that for some reason, some emulator would not launch via HS despite having the exact same setup as others.

NGB roms would not load while NGBA roms would run fine.

Both setup to use RetroArch, both setup have the same 'wheel option configured' in HSHQ

... yeah ... this was messing with my head badly ...

But after a last attempt on Sunday morning 1.30 AM ... I got it working ....

I did so much tweaking & tinkering that it's hard to pinpoint the exact reason for the fix but I believe the below 3 steps where essential:

1. RocketLauncher pushed a new update

2. Step 5 in Ghutch92 How To

3. Included Rom path & Extension in HSHQ as per attached file below (and this allow for "Show Rom only" to work too!!!!)

and Voila ...  I applied those settings to the rest of the available wheels and the sweet sweet feeling of victory spreaded through my brain ....

Again, I'm not 100%  sure what exactly did it, but now it's working fine so I can move on and concentrate on what's next ...

And for me this is what's next:

Amstrad CPC 6128 emulation

Pinball emulation

And of course finish that bar top Arcade shell I'm building .....

See you's around ...
