xzotic
Is there a way to get an updated version of this mame.ini (in the Hyperspin\data\Game Info) folder with all the game info in it? ie: It has the following format for each rom: [005] GoodName=005 NoIntro= Tosec= Company=Sega Year=1981 GameType=Maze Language=English NumPlayers=1-2 Players Description=You play secret agent 005, your mission is to take a briefcase filled with secret documents to a waiting helicopter. But, enemy agents are everywhere, trying to thwart your every move, luckily you are armed with cannisters of gas. Series= etc... I'm looking to see if I can find the most up to date version or a way to update it as a lot of description info is missing for a lot of roms. Many of the rom variations are also not listed at all. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

xzotic
i dont think you realize where you got that file? if you look into your rocketlauncher or hyperlaunch, maybe you will find what you looking for....? Hi Sevenseal - yes that is correct - I didn't know where I got that file. I did some research into rocketlauncher/hyperlaunch and found that indeed this file is provided 'static' as part of Hyperpause within Hyperlaunch (now rocketlauncher). In fact they are calling out for people who can align the file better with Mame's xml databases and to update the game info. So it looks like there is no additional or updated info available yet until someone takes on that task. Thanks for your assistance.
xzotic
I have never seen such a folder in the hyperspin directory. You can create one via command line Hi Jeremy. That's because unlike my configuration you haven't installed hyperlaunch or rocketlauncher into your Hyperspin directory. The mame.ini that you create from your command line is mame -cc and is for creating the main mame configuration file and not the game info file as I was referring to. I hope this info helps clarify my original question and provides further insight for you. Thank you for commenting.
xzotic
Yeah you shouldn't install it into your main directory Is this your personal preference or is there a specific technical reason for not doing so?
xzotic
Mine and a lot of other people as you can get conflicting issues. What are the conflicting issues specifically?
sevenseal
What are the conflicting issues specifically?the shared files for each programs can cause problems when one or the other get updated... while rocketlauncher is constantly updated, hyperspin updates when it feel needed...eventually one or the other will become incompatible with eachother because they dont use the dll/resource the same anymore. you will run into odd issue, you wont notice right away. if something doesnt work because its a merge setup. which i personally dont recommand
xzotic
Thanks guys! Jeremy that's a valid issue although I can't see how that could ever happen! Lol Sevenseal I didn't realize there were overlaps on dll/resource usage between the two. Thanks for your explanation.
