Retroarch graphics question

Hey guys,

Im trying to make my 64 games look nicer so I added a shader to the game. Im just looking to upscale the graphics. My question is: what else can you do in retroarch to make it look nicer? Also whats a good shader to pick for better quality, rather then the "old school" feel?
