snakey Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Hey guys! I'm having the weidest issue with my HyperSpin setup.. It happens very randomly and I've tried different controllers (Xbox 360 and PS3). I cannot figure out why sometimes when I use the controller to launch a game through Hyperspin, it won't launch. It just sits on the screen and it basically stops responding to controller commands. If I grab the keyboard I can move and launch game after it basically "drops" the controller response inside Hyperspin. I have no problems launching the game through RocketLauncher, so it's a very odd issue. For some reason, it seems to happen with Super Mario World (USA) for Super Nintendo. I did pick RetroArch Accuracy libretro core to launch so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with that.. Just very weird issue! Anyone has encountered similar situation? Thanks in advance!
snakey Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 An update: I tried a different core, balanced, same issue. It seems to happen only to certain games within my Super Nintendo wheel, Super Mario World to be specific. Using the keyboard I have no launch issues. But I'm trying to make a controller only experience and once I hit the button to start, I'm stuck and can only move around with the keyboard. What I noticed is that when it's on full screen, Taskbar not visible, is when it happens. If I make hyperspin window mode, it seems to work every time. I opened up task manager to see what would launch or not and I do see rocketlauncher working properly when launching the game. It works just fine when launching directly from rocketlauncher. When the freeze happens, I do not see any changes on my Task manager at all. I tried the Xbox 360 controller and the ps3 via wire and Bluetooth.. Happens on both.. Any insight on the issue is appreciated!
snakey Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 UPDATE: Fixed. After hours of thinkering with the whole thing, I was able to narrow down the issue. For SNES, I had games that had their own themes. For some unknown reason, when using certain themes (and letting the whole theme load, play the video, etc) the controller would become unresponsive. So it wasn't even trying to launch the game and freeze (that's why I didn't even see the RL icon by the taskbar), it would just not move from there. Using the keyboard though, I had no problem so I had to go up to another game and then the controller would respond again. If I switched over to those "buggy themes" and NOT let it load completely, I could skip over the game. The solution was to just remove the theme and use the Console Default theme as I did for other games that don't have their own themes. The themes I was having issues with were: Super Mario World, Star Fox, Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II. Other themes did not cause this "losing controller input" issue. My system is a i3-6100, ASrock H170-ITX/dc, 8Gb of RAM, SSD as main OS drive, but HyperSpin on separate standard HDD.
