Rocketlauncher + MESS

Hey all,

I have been trying to get this working for the better part of 3 days. Searching the forums, as well as watching Simply Austins setup videos again have come up empty.

I installed MESS via Simply Autins video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62u2yp2ydtk) and used his MESS link in the video and followed it set by step

(I did include the systems ROM path in MESS_BIOS_Path in global settings for MESS.ahk)

When I do a game audit in RocketLauncer they all go green. However when I go to launch an Atari 2600 game, I get a black screen (with menu items on the top) for a brief second and kicks me back to the RocketLauncer interface.

MAME is my other system installed for arcade classics and this one works perfect.

Not sure where I went wrong.

I will attach the log file into a reply.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Man this is getting frustrating. I just followed step by step Austins Retroarch (twice actually) to get this one up and running and it is doing the same thing MESS is doing. I go to launch game within RocketLauncherUI and just goes to black screen. I don't get kicked out with this one it just stays black until I hit esc. I can go into both emmulators and can launch them as per the videos I am following.

I don't get it. there is nothing to get this working but here I am. Could it be a PC issue? maybe a video card/driver issue? not sure why MAME works fine but these 2 are giving me grief.

I am hoping to get these up and running for my kids Christmas Present.

Any ideas?

UPDATE:

I have tried to launch the games directly in RetroArch and MESS via the gui. both fail to launch the ROM's. (thinking of ditching MESS anyway and just going with retroarch).

I downloaded the latest RetroArch from their website and downlaed the cores. Still just launches game into black screen. I figured it was just my computer so I grabbed my work laptop and it does the same f'ing thing grrrrr. Either I am doing something wrong or I am missing a step.

I followed a step by step another "setup" in another youtube video and same results.

I wonder if I have a bad set of ROM files. however I am having a hard time believing 3 systems (atari, nes, sega) all have bad rom files from a trusted source. I am thinking this only because I could not get the ROM files to populate into a list like he did in the video at the 9:20 mark (link below) and this was the only varible both computers shared.

IMHO I am above average computer literate (I have worked 20 years in IT and hold several certifications and usualy the guy people call to figure this $h!t out...)

I have read so many post and watched so many videos my head is about to explode.

Thanks for the reply Agent, I appreciate it! I too was thinking roms, as that was the only consistency between the two computers.

I played around for a bit and found if I unpack the rar files manually into its own directory (the bins) and launch RetroArch I can load the games. This also works in RL, if I unpack all the roms from the rar files RL loads the games. I ensured I had the zipped file extensions listed in RL. not sure why yet... I did check file permissions on the files and directories and all checkout.
