transfan Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Say I have 2 wheels. Say a Neo Geo only emulator and a Mame emulator. Both have neo geo game themes, but I don't want to use double my hard-drive space. Is there any way to have all the themes in my mame folder but still have the neo geo wheel use them???
SophT Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Nope, buy why are you worried about an extra ~100MB of space, the mame set is like 100GB. Things I Break ----- System Requirements? How do I remove rom warnings? How do I shut-down my computer? How do I shell HyperSpin?
transfan Posted April 7, 2010 Author Posted April 7, 2010 Thanks for letting me know. On a side note the themes I have are closer to 1gb and I still need to get more.
thundercat13 Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 This is an old post but thought it may be helpful to new users like myself as I found the same problem. I had created Capcom, data east, Irem, konami, midway, nemco, sega ect system wheels from the main menu and wanted them to point to the mame directory for videos and game themes. I wanted to do this so when I update the mame media through hypersync loader I do not have to repeat the process individually for each custom system wheel. If more games are supported /updated later I can strip the latest mame.xml based on manufacturer (Dons tools) but don’t have to update the media on the wheel systems individually. Pointing to the video directory was no problem through HyperHQ video tab for the individual wheel. But I was unable to find a setting to do this for the game themes and the game wheels. I was able to get around this by using a junction link in windows (I have win 8.1) I used a program called symlink creator (google) which is a graphical user interface for the windows command MKLINK. Example for custom Data east wheel; I selected the type of link as - Directory Symbolic Link Set the destination link as - C:\HyperSpin\Media\Data East Classics\Themes Set the source link as - C:\HyperSpin\Media\MAME\Themes Now the directory will link to the mame themes. This process is through windows and has nothing to do with the hyperspin software. NOTE – when creating the junction the files in the destination link will be deleted so back up your media files in case you link the wrong directory. I have found all of the members threads very helpful in getting hyperspin working / appreciate the communities time and efforts.
