Joy2Key closes when i exit emulator

ive looked for an answer to this for about 2 days but cant find my problem.

i have set up everything correctly that i am aware of but i have obviously missed something. 

when i load hyperspin my controller (through Joy2Key) can navigate hyperspin all the way to launching a game (in this case a snes game on snes9x). when i exit the emulator Joy2Key closes and obviously stops me being able to control hyperspin again. i have linked all my profiles to the .exe files.

any help would be appriciated as this seems to be my only hurdle at the minute
