steptoeUK Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 I'm building up a desktop arcade system and slowly adding systems making sure each one is working before moving on but have got an issue with UAE Amiga emulation paths The emulator works perfectly running via RocketLauncher and paths are correctly set in RocketLaucher UI, along with config correctly set in HyperSpin and RocketLaucher. The emulator.ini is poi8nting to WinUAE and my ROM paths are set fine I'm using WinUAE 3.4.0 under my emulator paths which are correctly set as all the other systems start perfectly. The emulator runs perfectly outside HyperSpin When I choose a game via the HyperSpin interface it flags up an error saying it can't find the emulator path and gives me a path that doesn't exist, as if its hardcoded somewhere : X:\Emulators\WinUAE\WinUAE v2.6.0\WinUAE.exe My path is set as : X:\Emulators\Amiga-WinUAE\WinUAE64.exe Totally different so I'm thinking its a hardcoded path or I've missed a config somewhere Any help appreciated, Thanks
Avar Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 So I'm sure you know how whorish UAE can be having it already setup. I'd over general troubleshooting advice but I had problems similar to yours throughout my UAE practice setups and the only way I know how to make it work perfectly and cleanly I laid out in the official video. You may be able to skip to the end where I go over WinUAE and RLUI settings but if that doesn't work I think I managed to make the whole process pretty painless. Could also try running everything as admin.
steptoeUK Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 Tried that guide, but it didn't work still insisting on the path detailed above instead of the one I set in RocketLaucherUI but it did help me change a couple more settings to get the best out of WinUAE In the end I solved it by scanning all my HyperSpin folder searching all possible .ini, .ahk and .isd files for the text with the incorrect path to see if I could find the path that was set incorrectly It turned out the path was set wrong in the HyperSpin Global Emuators.ini and for whatever reason refused to change to the path I set. I edited the .ini file and changed the path manually and WinUAE started straight away and every game I tried worked perfectly I had that exact same issue trying to get the Channel-F emulator working ( I wanted Amiga emulation but channel-F was just a bonus system) and consistently giving me the wrong path and gave up until I could be bothered to work out why. Now I know why I'll try the Channel-F emulator again and see if that path it not changing in the .ini file either So, if anybody else has weird errors with paths obviously set wrong to what you think it should be, go and check your HyperSpin Global Emulators.ini to make sure it has been set correctly and not to what it was originally set by default
Avar Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Weird. Any idea RLUI isn't changing your paths when you edit them in there?
steptoeUK Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 According to RocketLauncherUI the emulator is selected and saved perfectly, the red icon disappears once it knows where the path is. I deleted the commodore amiga profile at least 3 times, trying different ways to add it and even added it via HyperHQ with no difference, until I edited it manually Strange, as no other emulator failed and all paths are set fine, except Channel-F and thats down to the MAME/MESS core insisting its not supported in the module version. I'll work that one out another time
