HS will not boot

Hi, thanks for taking the time to read. I'm currently trying to set up Hyperspin on my CRT TV MX7000 (480i). It seems that HS will only boot if I have my PC monitor set as main, and on a big resolution (e.g. 1080p). If I set the CRT as main, HS tries to open for like 1sec and then shuts down back to windows. The frustrating part is that I know HS can function on the CRT, because if I open it on my pc monitor, and while opened, set the CRT to main display, Hyperspin gets on the CRT and scales beautifully. It seems that HS really only opens on a higher resolution like 800x600. 

I would've set up a script to do the screen switching on boot, but I plan to only use the CRT as the main monitor as soon as everything is set up, so that doesn't work out. I'm at a loss, tried to search for fixes, but can't find any. Someone has any clue how to fix this?
