HyperFighting Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 Hi Guys, I noticed that "Ghouls and Ghosts" and "Strider" on the Arcade 1up Tabletop have an interesting way of handling split screen. 1 of the 2 screens is always slightly smaller than the other. The player not playing has a smaller screen. EX: -Player 1 dies then Player 2 is allowed to play. -Player 1's screen is scaled to be slightly smaller than player 2's screen. -When Player 2 dies the Player 2 screen becomes scaled down slightly and Player 1 is enlarged! I find this functionality ideal because instead of having two identical screens the player not playing has a slightly smaller screen. I think this is a good visual aid to indicate who is playing and who is not. I assume because 'gng' and 'strider' have cocktail modes in the dip settings. The flag that flips the screen when Player 1/2 is playing must have something to do with how the screens are flagged to scale? I am hoping to mimic this behavior via mame but I have been unsuccessful up to this point. Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks!
