orubus Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 This is my first post and I hope it does not draw any heat. I have searched this site and various search engines for an answer and have come up dry. Well, here goes... I have Hyperspin as a front end obviously, and am trying to run any SNES game with it that I can when I encounter the same problem for every game. The message that pops up is this: "SNES 9x - Display Failure", followed by "Failed to initialize currently selected display output! Try switching to a different output method in the display settings". A second message then pops up after "OK" is selected. It reads "SNES 9x - Unable to intialize XAudio2". I'm sure there is a simple solution for this that is beyond me, but could anyone lend a hand? This is probably a newbie question as that is what I am to the MAME cabinet world, but i'm trying like hell... Any help would be greatly appreciated in the process of getting my feet wet. Thanks in advance.
Hypnoziz Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 What operating system are you running and what version of SNES9x are you using? First, try a different version of SNES9x (even if it's older) and see if you still get the message. We'll take it from there. Also, if you know the answer to this, it would help: do you have an onboard video card or dedicated? <em class='bbc'>"But does one ever truly have a choice? orubus Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 Alrighty, I have some answers for you. I am running Windows XP on what appears to be a home made computer. It has a 3.0 intel processor and is running an onboard intel ® 82865G Graphics controller. The version of SNES9x I am using is 1.52. Any further assistance is appreciated.
Hypnoziz Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Good to know. Start off by installing/updating DirectX: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35 Test out SNES9x at that point and see if you can get rid of the display output error message. If it still persists, check your SNES9x Options and change Output Method to "DirectDraw". <em class='bbc'>"But does one ever truly have a choice?
