windowlicker11 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 If anyone can help me get one of these emulators setup I would greatly appreciate it. I have been trying relentlessly using magic engine fx and mednafen to no avail. Mednafen refuses to load at all. I actually got it working once with mefx, but when I went back the next day I couldn't remember what I did to get it working. First I mount using daemon tools, then when I open mefx if i click play I get a blank screen, if I click boot cd I get "no cd". The one time I got it working the game was listed when I clicked boot cd. I am not sure what is the correct way to launch a game, should I be using command line or just opening pcfx.exe after mounting in daemon tools. Here is a portion of the logfile, it doesn't seem to scan D: which is the daemon tools drive. [CD-ROM INIT] scanning drives... + drive G: hp DVDRAM GT30L (port=0, unit=1) [CDROM] opening ASPI DLL... could not open the DLL! found 0 CD-ROM drive(s) I have tried swapping the drive letters and it still does not scan the daemon tools drive. Here are cd-rom settings in pcfx.ini. # ---- # cd-rom settings # ---- # [cdrom] ; ; CD-ROM driver ; -- ; 0 -> auto-detect [default] ; 1 -> SPTI (WinNT) ; 2 -> ASPI ; driver=0 ; ; CD-ROM drive ; -- ; 1 -> first CD-ROM drive [default] ; 2 -> second CD-ROM drive ; ... ; drive=1 ; ; CD-ROM drive letter ; -- ; (Windows 2000/XP only) ; ; D: ; E: ; ... ; drive_letter=D: I keep fiddling with these 3 settings, but nothing seems to work. If anyone has any suggestions it would be great. I have read every thread on google pertaining to this issue and I am out of ideas.
windowlicker11 Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 Got it working by setting up a scsi drive in daemon tools.
Weaselsneak Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Writing this in case it helps anyone. I was getting the black/blank screen when trying to run PC-FX on Mednafen. It turned out I needed a different bios file. I found one named NEC PC-FX BIOS (1994)(NEC)(JP)[a].7z. I unzipped it, renamed it to pcfxbios.bin, and put it in the firmware folder inside mednafen's main folder. Works now!
boot_sequence Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I found this file as well:-) however I have a problem when I run a game .cue file in mednafen (I have no emulator show up) and my stdout file says (*/ "pcfx.rom No such file or directory") I am trying a couple different .cue files that are in the same folder as the appropriate .bin file looks like my emu wants to see pcfx.rom. I tried to change the name but the extension?? how do I change that? OR do I need a different mednafen? **found the file "pcfx.rom" aand I am GTG! happy hunting all**
