Help with "error waiting for the window ahk_class MAME"

Hi everybody! First post, together with a bucket of thanks for all the community BTW, I'm a total noob so please bear with me, I fear it might be a very naive post...

As said in the title, I stumbled into the infamous "ahk_class MAME" error. I'm aware several posts have already been opened, I read them all but it seems I cannot find the solution I need.

To sum up: I'm building up my cabinet and I've installed the latest Hyperspin release and Mame (for now). I'm pretty sure all roms are compatible with Mame (last release), and they work fine if launched outside of Hyperspin. Actually, when I select a Mame game in Hyperspin, Mame does launch and the rom starts working, but it runs outside of Hyperspin, in a separate window. So, I select the game -> nothing happens for, say, 30 seconds -> the error window pops-up -> mame and the rom actually start (i can hear the game music) -> Hyperspin goes back to the game wheel -> Mame is still running in parallel (I can hear both the game music and Hyperspin music). The only thing I can do is quitting Hyperspin, so I can shut Mame which keeps working outside of hyperspin.

The odd thing is that this only happens once with random roms! If I close and restart Hyperspin, everything runs smoothly. Also, everything worked fine for a couple of months, but then this error popped up with no apparent reason (I didn't touch any options, apart from adding new game themes).

Any of you experiencing such issues? Please let me know if you need more info, I'll try to give it to you as soon as I can.

You should post your troubleshooting logs, for starters. Also make sure bezels and fade are both turned off.
