Game not launching in Hyperspin, but works from emu and HLHQ *epsxe*

Hey there, new Hyperspin user here. Just downloaded the most recent files from the site a few days ago and am digging into all this.

Right now I'm setting up ePSXe. I've followed various guides and the emulator itself is working, and when I do a System Audit in HyperLaunchHQ the game is green and I can launch it using the red rocket icon in the toolbar. However if I go into HyperSpin and select the Sony PlayStation wheel and go to this game (Castlevania - Symphony of the Night) and hit Enter nothing happens.

I experienced these same symptoms when setting up MAME as well, however the issue there was my use of HyperLaunch.exe to test the MAME launch capability would sometimes leave a HyperLaunch.exe process running in Task Manager. Once I killed that process I was able to launch MAME games from within HyperSpin no problem. In this case however there is no HyperLaunch process running, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

I am running on Windows 8.1 with UAC disabled if that helps. Thanks.

After poking around it looks like one of the guides may have missed some info (unless it's different since that guide was created, it can be found here: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?29906-Guide-ePSXe-in-HyperLaunch-3). Once I went into HyperHQ and set the PlayStation wheel up with the path to the emulator, the ROM file extensions, etc it was able to launch fine.

One thing I notice, though--with HyperLaunch set to launch the executable I can't exit out of the emulator. I have to use Task Manager to get out of epsxe. Running it manually or from HyperLaunchHQ I can hit ESC to exit out. I tried instructing HyperHQ to use Normal execution but then the process launches and nothing else happens (HyperSpin becomes the inactive window; I assume because it's trying to switch to the ePSXe window that isn't coming up). I noticed that it is in fact launching an ePSXe process, but not switching to it.

Any idea why hitting ESC won't quit out when using HyperLaunch?
