HyperList / ROM2XML starts Hyperspin and doesn't work

As the title suggests, for some reason when I click generate on HyperList or load up ROM2XML instead of creating an XML file it just starts up hyperspin, when I quit it gives me an error it didn't run correctly.

I'm assuming since its two separate programs having the same issue it's an issue with hyperspin being configured strangely when the MAME xml file is accessed, but I'm not sure.

Anyone have any help?
