coodkidd Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 I am using an Xbox 360 controller and it seems if I launch MESS 0.161 when the controller is not turned on or connected, then any custom joystick mappings I have get lost. I only have a few custom mappings such as start, select and a button to cancel the UI. But kind of annoying that I have to keep resetting. Any ideas on a workaround for this issue? Thanks a lot!
Dunk3000 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Urgh, I hate it when emulators do this. I know it so you don't run the emulator with no way of controlling it, but is annoying when you've set it the controls up. I'm still setting up thus emulator so not fully explored things, but if I was getting this issue there are 2 things I'd try: 1. Go to the ini folder in mess, find the ini file for ur system and right click it and set to "read only" And / or 2. Actually open up the ini file in a text editor and find the setting "write to ini" and set to off (0) Bear in mind you'll want to FULLY set up each system before doing these - and if you want to change anything you'll need to reverse process, make amends and then re-apply If this doesn't work, lemme know and I'll recreate ur setup here and try something else
Dunk3000 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Acruelly, there is also a config (cfg) folder in mess which has cfg files per system too and I cannot remember from memory whether it's ini or cfg file that saves control settings. Best thing is set ur settings for one system and check both files - following the process I wrote above for the file that shows ur control settings. Apologies, I have an annoying habit of answering questions when I'm not in front of my hyperspin to double check :/
coodkidd Posted May 25, 2015 Author Posted May 25, 2015 Ahhh, you are a genius. Why didn't I think of something like that. In the "cfg" folder there is a file called "default.cfg" which appears to keep the changes from the actual defaults. Did a few rounds of testing before and after and by setting that file to read-only it solved the problem. Thanks so much Dunk3000!
