  1. Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to have access to one
  2. Zac and I were able to work on the control panel some more Saturday night thanks to my Dad. Zac will be posting an update with pictures and probably a video soon.
  3. Zac and I didn't get as much done today as we had hoped to, but we started on the control panel. Started programming the CNC machine but ran out of time. Hopefully we'll have some more updates by the end of the week
  4. ** posted in wrong thread.. moving to HS-NES thread what I put here ** Oops
  5. Zac and I plan to work on our cab this Saturday Stay tuned for updates
  6. Thanks, that's good to know. I'm sure I'll be playing missile command, and it would suck to not be able to unleash all of the missiles
  7. Received the black buttons for our Trackball... not sure if we're going to use all 3 or just use 2 of them...
  8. Received the trackball! ( It was waiting for me at work when I got back from my week off ) It's pretty nice. Has a light under the trackball to light it up. Didn't expect that, but cool. This trackball has built in support for 3 buttons as well. It pretty much just works like a big mouse. The 3 buttons (when/if connected) act like a left, right, and middle mouse button. I think I'm gonna wind up ordering 2 more buttons and install them for a left and right click. I don't think I'd need a 3rd for a center mouse button click does anyone here feel otherwise? It can be hooked up either with the PS/2 or the USB connectors. Zac and I will, hopefully, get back to work on our poor arcade this Saturday. ( keeping my fingers crossed ). **(Update - ordered 3 black buttons for the trackball)**
  9. Ordered the 3" TrackBall in Blue from TwistedQuarter today. http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=98&products_id=666
  10. lol, maybe after he develops some better fine motor skillz
  11. Thanks. Yea, things will be on hold for a couple weeks anyway. Once we get our routine down, and I get the wife to let me out on Saturdays again, we'll get going on the control panel. We still gotta get a few parts before we get rolling on it anyway.
  12. Received our buttons, switches, and joysticks yesterday
  13. Thanks, and no worries man, you'll get yours all figured out. Remember, we were once Hyperspin lurkers too, and this is our first cabinet build. Patience and taking our time is slowly paying off. We still have a lot more to do before it's done. Just gotta keep pluggin' away a little at a time
  14. We're also planning on putting a trackball in this cab. We were thinking about going with this one: http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=98&products_id=717 from TwistedQuarter.com We'll probably order one next week. Any known issues or suggestions? Let us know. Afterall, this is our first build lol. Thanks!

  19. Ordered the 27" monitor bezel from TwistedQuarter.com today. Hopefully it'll work well. http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=374
  20. Thanks for the tips. We are planning on priming/painting the cab. I think we're gonna get some vinyl graphics to apply to the outside as well. We haven't put together any graphics designs as of yet. We'll post some ideas when we get closer to completing the cab. -Ray
  21. Yeah I agree that it isn't complicated or dangerous to wire up a power switch for the computer like that. Though the switch for the Belkin is like a remote control, it comes with a mounting bracket so you can mount it somewhere using wood screws or double sided tape. Like I said, we're gonna plan on mounting it on the top of the cab on either one of the sides. No biggie. That power strip you suggested does seem pretty cool. Never knew it existed until you brought it up. Thanks! -Ray
  22. After some research, The Smart Strip you are suggesting would essentially work the same way. You'd just have to wire up a power button somewhere for whatever device you chose to plug into the "Control" outlet. Here's a link to the Smart Strip on Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812606001&cm_re=bits_limited_smart_strip-_-12-606-001-_-Product -Ray
  23. Haven't heard of that power strip. We found the Belkin on on Newegg.com, and because it had a wireless remote power switch we thought it would be perfect for our application for two reasons. One, we wanted a power switch to power on/off everything, and two it was wireless so we don't have to run or terminate any more wires than we need to. We plan to mount the power switch on the top of the cabinet on the left or right side so you can reach up and switch the cabinet on. We have the computer plugged into one of the remote switching outlets and setup to power on when the power supply has power going to it. The TV and the speakers are also plugged into remote switched outlets. It works great! Flip the switch on, and everything gets powered on Of course you still have to shut down the computer like you normally would, but Zac is going to program a button combo in AutoIT to handle the shutdown command. So, when you want to shut down the cab, you push the button combo, it shuts down the computer properly, then you switch off the power strip. When you want to power it up again, just flip the switch on
  24. Saw that TwistedQuarter had them too... http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=374 We'll probably wind up ordering one from either company... depending on the shipping it looks like Happ will be cheaper... Thanks!
