I just noticed that the overrides folder only supports png files and not jpg as well unless that is by design

That was also the case with the previous version of HyperSpin. JPG doesn't support transparency so it would make clear logos impossible.

This is correct, we designed the entire interface with transparence in mind. If there is a solid use case, please open this as a feature request!
