Sound Settings
When I click the check box to play music instead, not sure what this actually does.

May be nice to have a path to a folder where you store music to play from.

This is referring to game music. So if you have an mp3 of music from the game, it will mute the emumovies audio and play that file instead. This is in the overrides if you want to update it yourself.
