swindmiller Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I really tried to figure this one out on my own but am out of options. I am having a problem with my Shift key being stuck down after playing a game. I have the PC game Burnout setup in HS with the latest HL and PCLauncher script. I have a tankstick and had to remap the 1st 4 buttons because they were using LConrol, Lalt, Space and LShift and this was causing problems with some emulators so I just decided to remap them. I have to use a separate script for the remaps since I am using xpadder for the keymapper in HL. I launch this script in the Prelaunch of PCLauncher and close it with the postlaunch, this is what it looks like: #MaxHotkeysPerInterval 1000 Run, "C:\Hyperspin\xpadder\xpadder.exe" "C:\Hyperspin\Keymapper Profiles\PC Games\Burnout.xpadderprofile" "C:\Hyperspin\Keymapper Profiles\PC Games\Burnout [p2].xpadderprofile" Lcontrol::v LAlt::t Space::b LShift::y r::Numpad8 f::Numpad2 To re-create I start the game and start driving (holding Lcontrol which is mapped to V) and hold in the boost key LShift (which is mapped to y) for around 10-15 seconds. I drop down to notepad and everything I type is being typed like the shift key is down...5 is %. Even after I get completely out of HS and make sure all scripts are closed the problem is still there. The only way I can get the shift key un-stuck is to hit the Shift key on the keyboard one time and all is good, this only works once HS and all the scripts are not running. Go back into the game and will have the same problem. If I comment out the Lshift line in the script and manually set the LShift to boost in the game (leaving everything else as is) and run it I get no problems. Now this is a fix but I would like to be able to figure out what it is and possibly fix it since I don't know what it will do to all the other games. I have made sure I dont have sticky keys or anything like that on. HELP!!!! Thanks, Scott
Hypnoziz Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 You could try unsticking the Shift key at the end of the script with: Send {LShift Up} <em class='bbc'>"But does one ever truly have a choice? One can only match, move by move, the machinations of Fate, and thus defy the tyrannous stars."</em>
swindmiller Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 You could try unsticking the Shift key at the end of the script with: Send {LShift Up} Thanks for replying!! Its funny that you should say that. I have been working on this for a few hours and while driving home I thought of the Shift Up That does seem to help. Funny thing is I don't remember this happening before and can't find anyone else with this problem...I think I would have noticed. I am trying to add a dedicated exit button to my tankstick. The tankstick has an un-used middle mouse button wire that I hooked and extra button up to. I changed my settings.ini to use MButton for exitEmulator...this is where I noticed the problem. When I hit the button I believe it was sending a Shift + MButton and was not working. I changed it from MButton to *MButton in settings.ini and added the Send {LShift Up} to the end of my close script. This seems to fix everything although it seems like alot of unnecessary steps...oh well as long as it works. Can you think of any downfalls to this or what may have caused it?
Hypnoziz Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Can you think of any downfalls to this or what may have caused it? I'm not quite sure. The only thing that comes to mind is the Windows feature: StickyKeys. I think that's kind of a far-shot though and doesn't seem to be the real problem. swindmiller Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 I have this problem too.... any idea??????? I was using a tankstick with the built in board. I replaced it with an IPAC and the problem along with several others was fixed. Hope this helps. Scott
