flash1987 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I've been setting up Hyperspin for the last couple of weeks on and off and have added about 11 systems (all cartridge based systems) that work fine. These systems were complete ROM sets so didn't prove to difficult. Now that I've moved onto disc based systems progress has ground to a halt. Before I didn't need to know too much about what was in the xml and ini files as I was adding everything. Basically I'm trying to add Sega CD and Sega Saturn as my first two titles... but the XMLs on the website don't contain all of the titles I have (eg. I'm trying to add a Japanese ROM translated for Shining Force 3, but the XMLs don't contain Japanese games). How do I add games to an XML? I downloaded Don's Hyperspin Tools and watched the tutorial but it doesn't seem to allow you to actually add to the original xml file you were starting with, only cut or filter things down. I've also been coming across some hacks for the cart systems I'd like to add to the wheels but no idea how to do that. TL;DR: I don't understand XMLs and inis. I want to add games (sometimes unofficial ones) to wheels. I thought I was doing so well setting up 11 systems (although it was mostly due to S Austin's vids) with no issues and now I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing again!
CarloCGC Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Or you can download the official XML through hypersync then open the XML in notepad. Press ctrl + f to open the search box and search for the game you want to add and copy the exact name of the game as is in the database and rename your rom to match the database. Then in hyper HQ add the relevent extensions and rom locations and select show roms you own only in the wheels. This method makes adding games later on much easier as you are not forever creating new databases but just working with the orginal and renaming roms to match it. Austin walks through the hyper HQ part of this many times in his videos. Good luck
flash1987 Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Awesome thanks guys. I got myself confused and thought I had to use Dons hyperspin tools. All good on the hyperhQ side.
rastan Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I normally just use the hyperlist maker to create my own xml.. this way whatever is in my rom folder is on my xml.
