Is wrapping cables around the heatsink bad?

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of putting a computer inside a SNES case. This is my motherboard http://www.zotacusa.com/zotac-ion-itx-a-series-ionitx-a-u.html

Space is very limited and I'm having to wrap a cable around the big metal heatsink in order for it to fit.

My question is... Is this dangerous in any way? The cable isnt touching the fan.

If the cable were to melt and expose the wire then yes that would be very bad.

the heatsink gets warm, not hot, so cable melting shouldnt be an issue

If its a small cable then it should not be an issue. The heat syncs rely on open surface area to help transfer heat.
