klylark Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I'm running into issues with my Logitech F310 controllers not playing nicely when running through Hyperspin or Rockerlauncher. 2 player doesn't work with second controller buttons seems to be mapped wrong. Lots of just strange things. However, when I load up my emulator (RetroArch) to play a NES/SNES/SEGA game the controls seem fine. I assume its a settings somewhere I'm missing, I've tried a few things like xpadder to try to resolve the issue. I'm entirely sure I headed the right direction at the moment. I was also having issues with the controllers be as responsive as I'd like, I'd sometimes have to press hard on the button to make it work when it was acting properly. I thought may be someone here may have ran into something similar and could offer some suggestions. I'm also in the market for a good controller. Seems like on the forums people like the Playstation 2/3 controllers. Any other thoughts on what to get?
Bonoscot Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 hey have you tried Pinacle Game Profiler? great button mapping program You dont HAVE to use Retroarch, i am running snes9x due to having problems with Retroarch The conrollers i use is XBox 360 wired for most games, Qanba q4 RAF for my fighers and SNES usb controller for snes
klylark Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 @Bonoscot Thanks for the thoughts and appreciate you taking the time to respond. I'm super green at this, in fact I just discovered Hyperspin about two weeks ago. So far, I'm super impressed with its ability. With not knowing where to start I hit up YouTube to learn what I needed to do. I found and great videos and haven't strayed too far from them. Looks like I may need to branch out a bit! RetroArch seems to be fine on its own, in fact two player games and key mapping seems to work fine simply using the emulator settings. It appears the issues arise when running through Hyperspin. I was hoping to use RA to emulate several systems. I may need to look at breaking my systems down into different emulator software. I had picked up xpadder in hopes to resolve the weird key mapping issue I was having. So far no luck, PGP looks super intuitive, looks to be well worth the expense. The Qanba looks like an awesome controller, I'll be adding that to my wish list. Gonna order me some Xbox controllers on Friday I think. Again, thanks for the direction, I'll give these thoughts a try!
Tomkun Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Retroarch sometimes forgets the 2nd controller if it is not connected when it starts. That can be a frustrating cause of issues. I would really try to avoid using any sort of keymapping software unless it's absolutely necessary. Retroarch already supports controllers, so adding another piece of software will only make things more difficult/confusing. As for controllers, I would recommend anything that uses Xinput.
klylark Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 @Tomkun - RA seems fine even with the two controllers I had when manually running RA and loading the core and game. Key mapping worked fine in that instance. I would prefer to use the built in key mapping per emulator. Simple is often better However, things seems to go array as soon as I load Hyperspin and launch a game from there. 2nd controller stopped working and the one working controller would switch controls around. It's highly possible I have something setup incorrectly inside Rocket Launcher or Hyperspin somewhere. I followed Simply Austins videos pretty much start to finish. However, little to nothing was discussed about key mapping. Which I understand why, it's generally a non issue and very straight forward. It just seems what I'm dealing with is a bit odd from the norm. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong, that the problem with being a noob. I thought it could be the controllers not behaving properly. As mentioned, I have returned them and will ordering something else such as something which supports Xinput. The F310 controllers I had provide a switch to toggle between Xinput and DirectInput. I tried both settings, Xinput worked best when using RA as a standalone, no HS. I will add that I never really could get xpadder figured out, I'm sure its easy to the pro's, but just didn't seem overly intuitive. Thanks for the suggestions @ Tomkun
Tomkun Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Have a look through this thread: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/9650-controller-advice-xbox360-for-windows-x-arcade-and-how-to-use-both/ It's about Xbox 360 controllers, but should be relevant to any Xinput one. See if anything in there gives you any pointers. I personally have 2 wireless and one wired Xbox 360 controller, a dolphin bar with 4 wiimotes and of course a keyboard/mouse. The only thing I use a keymapper for is Dice.
nemisisomega Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 If it's all right with everybody, I'll throw this in here. First off HI....my first post. Have a slight issue. I've been following Simply Austin's tutorials on youtube, got Hyperspin up & running, but it has a slight snag. When I use a controller to navigate Hyperspin (I've used a wireless 360 controller, a Xbone TE2 Fightstick with Cronusmax set to register as a 360 controller, & a wired Xbone controller) & every time in the Hyperspin menu I use the up & down controls to change a selection on the wheel it sends the wheel spinning out of control, but a keyboard works just fine & using it will even stop the wheel. I was wondering if anyone out there has had this problem & knows what to do to fix it. I'm running v1.4 on Windows 10, if that helps.
