Hyperspin via Steam link

Hey Guys,

 

I'm new to the Hyperspin community but thanks to Simple Austin's great tutorials I've been able to get Hyperspin setup and running successfully!

To take my setup even further I'd love to play it via Steam link. I've got a 360 controller attached to Steam link and I'm able to launch Hyperspin but once launched, Hyperspin won't recognize my controller. Has anyone had success using a 360 controller with Hyperspin and Steam link? I've read a few folks having success using the steam controller. Would that be the best option?

Well, I had it working but when I switched over to RocketLauncher from HyperLaunch and did some other updates I broke something.  HyperSpin starts and works fine over the Steam Link, but when I launch a game out of HS, I get a black screen (with the sound of the game playing).

 

Anyway, here's what I did to get HyperSpin to work with Steam Link and an XBox 360 controller (I also have a wireless keyboard and mouse hooked up to my Steam Link).  It makes fixing things a lot easier when something goes screwy because the linked PC is at the other end of the house.

 

All you really need is VitrualHere for Steam Link.  It's $20 from the Steam Store (Trust me, it's worth every penny).  Basically it allows USB devices connected to the SteamLink to talk directly to the connected PC.  This fixes A TON of issues with certain games not working over Steam Link.  Also, if you have a mouse and keyboard hooked up, it lets you use the SteamLink as a remote-desktop for the connected PC.  The only hang-ups I have are when something generates a user-account-control window or the screen locks for some other reason.  Either of those will drop the connection.
