TheMadHatter Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 So I was trying to become a little more knowledgeable when it comes to the actual functionality of the paths for artwork and stuff. So i got some questions for you Pros. 1) How do you know what artwork folder does what? For example some of them are disc images and they spin. Some are box images and some are in the middle of the screen. 2) How do you know how the artwork is categorize or path'd other than guess and checking? Like some of my box art goes in Artwork4 folder. But other systems might be put in like Artwork1 or Artwork2? Why is that? Instead of like all box art be put in Artwork4? 3)Are their Layers of art? Like are there multiple folders bc each folder is a layer over the other. Bc ive noticed some Artwork folders do nothing when i place art there. or maybe the theme is covering the artwork bc its layered? and artwork4 is the top layer priority over the theme? Just trying to figure it out so i can just not blindly plug and chug if i wanted to customize my layouts differently down the road.
Avar Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 The theme's xml needs to be made such that it draws art from different folders. To determine which folders to use you can check the xml but it's easiest to just test boxes in 3, carts/cds in 4, then check and if it's wrong can just move them. Those are the most common two folders used. If a theme doesn't load art you place in a folder it's because either the theme xml isn't told to call that folder or, more likely, the theme is using that artwork slot for a static image or swf.

Gotcha So themes use the artwork folders for various different things depending on that theme. That makes more sense. And after i start figuring stuff out i may mess with the xmls in those themes but ya ill prob stick to using artwork3 or 4 and just checking it out. But that clears up what i was asking lol.
