Don's list generator - what filtering criteria do you use to cull your lists?

I'm in the process of downloading a complete set for the first time instead of individual roms, and i was wondering what tips people have for culling their list?

At the moment i've excluded mahjong, gambling, preliminary status, and games with more than 8 buttons or that need a lightgun/unusual controller.

I've excluded clones but there are some specific clones i'll need to add manually such as the two player versions of sunset riders, ninja turtles, simpsons etc since my cabinet only has two player controls. I was going to exclude games with more than 2 players but there are some 3 and 4 player games (like alien vs predator and x-men) that can be played fine with a 2 player cab since you can select players so i may have to go through the 3 and 4 player list manually to cull things.

Can anyone think of other criteria i can use to cut down my list of games to get rid of ones most people never play? Or see any issues with the criteria i've used already?

You can also filter games marked as preliminary for emulation status. I personally only include only parent roms and exclude the clones by default. I then go through each game that is more than 2 players and see if there is a 2 player version by hovering over the clone column.

Check out the video I made. I believe you can get to it by clicking on my signature. At the end of it I show a fancy "quick filtering" technique. I have filtered through an entire mame list in under 45 minutes using the technique.
