Occasionally low frame rates on Hyperspin at start up.

After a year or more of smooth running I am all of a sudden getting what seems like very low frame rates when i start Hyperspin.

 

It happens about 1 in 20 start ups (ish) the rest of the time it runs great its just the odd time it goes bad. 

 

I've created an exception in my AV (Microsoft Security Essentials), I am running in windows performance desktop, have app quality set to high in HyperHQ, and have system specs well above required (i5, GTX970 etc)

 

This has began happening just this week (after a video driver update and a RL update but not immediately after either, so i cannot draw a cause to it being either of those) 

 

I have also had this exact issue when I transferred my setup to another system about 6 months ago with another nvidia based GPU. 

 

Has anyone seen this behavior before? or could offer some info as to what might cause it?
