Budz71
Hello everybody. I've been doing a ton of research for a hyperspin arcade cabinet build and I have the cabinet design down but I am struggling with the pc build. I will be running Hyperspin along with emulators for Atari classics, NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, & PS1. Maybe a little PS2, Gamecube, & Wii as well. I would like to pull some money out of the build if anybody has any suggestions. Here is my proposed build along with questions: Component Selection Base Promo Shipping Tax Price Where CPU Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor $66.99 FREE $66.99 B&H Buy CPU Cooler Choose A CPU Cooler Motherboard MSI H81I Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard $60.99 $60.99 SuperBiiz Buy Memory Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory $39.99 FREE $39.99 Newegg Buy Add Additional Memory Storage Crucial BX200 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $59.99 $59.99 Amazon Buy Add Additional Storage Video Card XFX Radeon RX 460 2GB Video Card $97.99 $97.99 SuperBiiz Buy Case Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini ITX Tower Case $38.99 $38.99 SuperBiiz Buy Power Supply EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply $38.89 -$10.00 $28.89 OutletPC Buy $10.00 mail-in rebate Optical Drive Choose An Optical Drive Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 OEM 64-bit $92.88 -$10.00 $82.88 OutletPC Buy $10.00 mail-in rebate Software Choose Software Monitor ViewSonic VX2757-mhd 27.0" 1920x1080 Monitor $189.99 FREE $189.99 Best Buy Buy Add Another Monitor External Storage Choose External Storage Expansion Cards / Networking Add Expansion Cards / Networking ... From my understanding it really helps with older games which is the majority of what I will be playing. Without freesync I could shave a fair amount off of my GPU and Monitor. If I do away with freesync how cheap could I go with my graphics card? Is a 240GB SSD enough? Should I go with a larger 3.5" drive instead? Or a smaller SSD paired with a large external drive? If I go with an external drive will I have problems playing games because the data transfer is slower? Any other suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance. ninja2bceen
3-5 Tb is the sweet spot if you want all the systems. I5 unlocked is perfect, 8 gb memory is good. You need lots of cpu not cores. 3.5-4.5 is what you want to shoot for so you will be overclocking as well. 500-750 watt psu
