jbrodie Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Hi All, I have been struggling with the MAME wheel in my arcade cabinet. I have switched to a non-filtered setup where I use Don's Tools to create the XML for the roms I have. This has eliminate the problem that I had where HyperSpin would crash when transitioning from Main Wheel to MAME wheel. Now I am faced with a problem of the wheel freezing as it is rotated. As an example, I modify the MAME.ini to start at 1941. When I rotate in one direction it will stop at Bank Panic (50 games from 1941), in the other direction it stops at The Astyanax (14 games from 1941). I have tried removing these specific games. I have removed the games before and after these games. The result is the crash point moving closer to the 'start' point (1941). I can modify the mame.ini to specify a different starting point (closer to either of these crash points) and the crash point remains the same. The wheel can be rotated back and forth multiple times with out crashing it the above mentioned games are not selected. What happens, when the either of the 'end points' are rotated to the wheel becomes frozen. You cannot rotate either way. You can select the game or hit escape to go back to the main wheel. If select the game, it loads and you can play it. When you exit the game, you go back into the lock condition. If you escape back to the main wheel, when you go back into the MAME wheel you see a black screen and you have to shut down the app. Anyone experienced this situation before? I have 178 games in the MAME wheel. Regards, Jason
BATTLEDONKEY Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 I had this happen just the other day to my Gameboy advance wheel. No matter what I tried it kept doing the exact same thing ur describing. I don't know if it was a corrupt file or something but I was struggling with it for awhile. I ended up having to delete it all together and adding it again from a backup and it started working again. I had to rename my artwork again so I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but last I checked it was working again

I have replaced the database XML and the setting INI. Regards, Jason
BATTLEDONKEY Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I went into hyperhq and removed the wheel entirely, added it again from the backup. Once it was added I updated the xml and changed the settings and renamed the artwork and roms to match the xml. The reason I went from backup and renamed all artwork was because initially when I noticed the problem I tried removing the wheel art of the games where it was freezing n filtering by wheels to see if I could bypass the problematic games, but it would constantly freeze on whatever the next in line game was, therefore I don't think it had anything to do with the art, but reverting from my backup seems to have fixed the issue for me *knock on wood*
jbrodie Posted February 2, 2017 Author Posted February 2, 2017 Thanks! That full remove did the trick!!
