JoyToKey giving errors when selecting game

I was able to get JoyToKey set up properly, or so I thought, and it does control all HyperSpin menu functions just fine.  However, when I select a game to play, it goes into an endless loop telling me I had to have at least 5.1 or later.  I have version 5.8, btw.  It won't let me do anything at all, and is full screen at that point, so all I can do is restart my PC.

Any suggestions?

I found a great tutorial on this site and got everything set up.  The only problem now is that the game controls are acting like the HyperSpin controls.

For instance, I have button b set as "enter" for HS but now when I'm in a game, and press button b, it's as if I'm pressing enter on the keyboard.  It messed with the actual in game controls.

How do I fix this?
