Controller Issue Xpadder JoytoKey etc - Could use some help

Hi Folks - I have to admit, I'm about at wits end with these mapping programs etc. I've been searching forums for days and can not get my setup to work as intended. Clicking links that say follow this etc and finding 404 or that thread no longer exists.  Very frustrating.   Ok done ranting - here's my info and the problem if anyone can help. :)

System: Windows 10 x64 Pro

Hyperspin latest version
RocketLauncher latest version
Xbox 360 Wireless Controller

I bought Joytokey and set it up originally - worked great and I could exit all of my emulators using Select+Start to send the escape key. Great!

Now add a playstation 1 emulator. Oh lord - here we go..... (Death destruction - stars imploding!)

So Joytokey is rendered inert after the playstation emulator loads and programs the controllers. (This happens with ePSXe, Mednafen, Retroarch Mednafen, and PSXfin)  It simply does not work.
So I bought Xpadder.  It does work for exiting Mednafen and Retroarch Medanfen.  But upon running any game and then exiting said game - it closes xpadder and renders joytokey useless.
So I can no longer control Hyperspin with my controller.

I've tried so many configurations I dare not try to list them all here.
I know 100's of users have got to have this working for them - so someone please share your success and let me know how you went about it?  I'd greatly appreciate it. What hair I have left, appreciates it! :)
I'd love to use ePSXe but Mednafen looks almost as good.  PSXfin - did not enjoy that emu...   I had too many issues with normal Mednafen putting itself behind the Hyperspin window - but Retroarch Mednafen does not have that issue.

So I'm chasing the lesser of the evils really. :)

Thanks,

Played around with some settings that I had another issue with (and is now fixed) but now I have even more trouble with the issue above.

Not using xpadder at all right now - just joy2key - and now when I exit out of mednafen (using the keyboard) - joy2key closes and I can't use my controller with Hyperspin.

What is causing these mappers to be closed when exiting a PlayStation emu?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris - yes I do and it works great when I first open Hyperspin.  But when I exit the playstation emu's it closes Joytokey (and xpadder when used) - so I'm without controller support in Hyperspin at that point.

I' d also like to note that  the assignment I'm using to send escape (select + start) - does not work in the playstation emu's. So I'm forced to close the emu by pressing escape on the keyboard - then Hyperspin comes back up and joytopad closes.

Can't figure this one out. Only happens with the PS emu's.

no need to use xpadder or joy to key for ePSXe just use PoKopom Xinput pad plugin or select xinput under core plugin top right

Thank you - I don't use them to control games - I use them to exit the emulator.  Is there a way to assign an exit button using Pokopom - I know there is not using Xinput.

We found a resolution - here is my post from another thread that started out as Mednafen hiding behind Hyperspin.  This is how I fixed the issue with exiting the emu's.

YAY! We have success.  Thank you again  for the information Solipsist1234.  Here's what I did to make mine work:

I removed the JoytoKey profile from all of my individual emulators. (Not using xpadder either.) I am only using JoytoPad for the Hyperspin front end.
Added this line to my Hyperlaunch.ini (in Hyperlaunch\settings\)

Exit_Emulator_Key= ~Joy7 & ~Joy8

(So I'm now using AutoHotKey built into Rocketlauncher to exit my emulators.)

I have tested numerous PSX games and other emulators as well and all now exit with my start + select combo press.  It then returns to Hyperspin and utilizes JoytoKey to control the menu for HS.

It can take up to 10 seconds (and sometimes a couple of presses of the combo keys) - but it does work every time.

Ahhh thank goodness!  Thanks again for the help!

Here is the other thread if anyone wants to take a look:

Thanks to everyone!
