2 controllers for one player - Dolphin GC

I am trying to set up a cabinet without having to use a keyboard/mouse so I'm finding I need a few weird things to work.

I have a Logitech G920 steering wheel and an Xbox 360 controller I'm trying to get to work at the same time, both for player one.

I've been able to successfully do this in every emulator so far, including Dolphin for Wii, but when it comes to Dolphin for Gamecube, I just can't get it to work.

I want to be able to use the Xbox controller for regular games and the steering wheel for driving games.

I've somehow managed to get it working in other emulators, and again, in Dolphin for Wii where whichever controller I start with is the one used for that game/session, but can't figure out how to do it for Dolphin/GC.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My cabinet will be a one player cabinet so I never see the need to try and figure out player two controls, just different types of controls all for player one.
