MAME "select position to load from"

In MAME when I try using any trackball games, it works for about 3 seconds and then I'm getting a "select position to load from" that pops up.

 

Does anyone have a solution for this?  It does it with the trackball and with the mouse.

That's the MAME save/load function. It should be mapped to (shift-)F7, but may have accidentally been remapped to your trackball. Please check the UI input settings.
