[Help] Create xml/dat with a vid folder as source for MAME

Hello all.

I am running latest HyperSpin 1.4.6 and I would ike to make a portable 32GB minted MAME set.

• I have downloaded all the available Media for MAME via HyperSync (17.7GB in total) containing 4.658 vids.
• I have the complete merged MAME 0.191 romset (57.9GB in total) containing 17.729 roms.

How could I create an xml/dat to rebuild the complete merged romset (17.729) into a new one only containing the roms for which there are vids available (4.658)?

I have read about Don's utility for doing it the reverse way (generate an xml sourcing a rom folder), but I have no idea about doing it the other way around so I can rebuild the complete romset with clrmamepro.

PD: I have tried to rebuild the complete romset with clrmamepro and the official MAME.xml from HyperList (0.160 ongoing) but I get all the roms skipped.

Update

 

I have downloaded current MAME 0.1901 xml pack from retroFE site, and loaded "mame_no_clones.xml" version into clrmamepro which contains 4057 roms (I assume most of them match the vid available ones at emumovies).

 

I have performed a rebuilding and then a scan and got 0/4057 roms missing, but I have opened the destination folder and 90% of roms are 1kb in size. The 57GB pack has shrunk down to 0.99GB and the roms do not launch correctly either in MAME nor in HyperSpin. SO I guess the rebuilding process is not working as it should.

 

Do I need to do anything to the xml prior to load it into clrmamepro? Maths say that I should be getting a ~20GB romset by rebuilding it with the 4057 roms xml (mame_no_clones.xml) after the packing them in 7z.

This is where I am:

 

No matter if I try with the split or unmerged MAME complete set, I am still getting a 0.99GB romset with lots of 1KB roms, despite getting 0/4057 misses in the Scan posterior to the rebuilding process.

So then the HS xml is merely for feeding the Databases/MAME folder, right?

 

I need to get a genuine dat to rebuild the main set and get a "no_clones" curated romset that matches the roms for which there is a vid available. Any hints on where/how could i get/generate it?
