The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Mame XML - Take out missing roms (Excel?)

Hello, I'm not very good at excel. I'm curious if it's possible to copy all the meaningful information of a rom in the xml database that matches a rom filename I have (thus dropping those I don't have)

Maybe making one column with my MAME roms and another for each entry of game. Then I copy only those (3 or 4 lines) that found a matching filename with the other column using a formula.

Why do this and not an xml creator? well, xml already have the full rom names, game information as well.

Here is how I would do it (so it doesn't remove any of the xml data stored in the file).

Use HyperTools v4.3.25:

Create a new hyperlist scanning the directory and output the file as mamehave.xml.

Use the Filter HyperList program (also in HyperTools) and use the original MAME.xml as the source.

Use the mamehave.xml as the HyperSpin Output XML file.

Hit Scan.

Hit the Export Output List to save the new MAME.xml file. This file will have all the extra data, but only the games you have.

Thanks,

Ron

wow, thanks a bunch rfancella, a whole unexplored world that is, I would have never guessed I could do it that way since I know nothing about those programs.

Let me try and report back.

Wow really wonderful, worked like a charm.

You just gave me the spark and reason to use HyperTools, seems like a useful tool to manage what you have or not (artwork, wheel, xml entry). It's a time saver. Thanks a bunch again, things usually never go so smooth.
