Launching Virtual DJ from HS -- ASIO help

Hi everyone,

I'm launching Virtual DJ from HyperSpin.

I am using a Denon DJ Controller as the PC sound card and the sound is fine in all emu's and the front end itself, but I have no audio as soon as I'm in to VDJ. When I Quit VDJ and go back to the front end, the audio is back immediately..

The DJ Controller uses ASIO drivers to work (so you can cue songs through headphones etc.) and I think the problem is something to do with that. If I change the sound card from "ASIO" to "simple" in VDJ's config, I get sound but obviously can't use the controller properly.

VDJ and the controller work fine with ASIO if launched outside of HyperSpin.

Anyone got any ideas or workarounds??

I'm stumped..

I know ASIO can be finicky if some other program is running that is using audio. I had some issues with it and FLStudio and I believe I had Hyperspin in the background I had accidentally left running as a test. I'll mess with it some and see if I can help you out.

Thanks Cryo.

I guessed it was ASIO causing the problem.

I sorted out a workaround.. I'm launching VDJ from a batch file that also kills HS, then waits for VDJ to close before starting HS again.

The OS is shelled so it's fairly neat, it just puts a black screen up for a second or two. Not ideal, but good enough.

Ah good you sorted it out. I noticed other programs I used with ASIO have the same issue (not just with Hyperspin but anything else using audio at the time I loaded them). I just make sure everything else is shut down before I load them. But I only noticed this using ASIO4ALL. When I used the ASIO built into my sound card I had no such issue. But my sound card kinda sucked for music composing (latency) so I switched.
