kerryandray Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Hi, all. I'm very new to this and am trying to get MAME 215 installed and running through Hyperspin. First the background: 1. I have hyperspin set up and working with several systems, including MAME 151 (which I downloaded and used years ago on another computer and have a large rom pack), NES, SNES and Playstation 2. 2. I installed MAME 215 in a separate folder within the Hyperspin Emulators folder (D:\HyperSpin_151\Emulators) like I did with all the other emulators 3. I have MAME 215 running games standalone. 4. Within RocketLauncherUI, I selected the MAME system on the left and selected the Emulators tab on the right. Added a new Emulator called MAME_215 and selected the path to the mame64.exe file and used the MAME.ahk module. I set this to the default emulator and changed the Rom path to the folder with my newly downloaded roms for mame 215. 5. I have run an audit of the games in RocketLauncherUI and it finds the games. When I select a game I had successfully run standalone via the MAME 215 exe, I get the following error: "There was an error waiting for the window "ahk_class MAME". Please check you have the correct version emulator installed for this module, followed any notes in the module, and have this emulator working outside your Frontend first. Also turn off Fade to see if you are hiding your problem." 6. As suggested in other topics, I've set the 7z Enabled setting to False for MAME in RocketLauncherUI Any help folks can suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
StreetGamer Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Hi "Added a new Emulator called MAME_215 and selected the path to the mame64.exe file and used the MAME.ahk module." Try only name MAME for new Emulator.
ParadiseCS Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 There is a problem with the mame.ahk with recent versions. I just upgraded from 185 to 214 and had the same problem. I can't find my notes on where I downloaded an updated/modded version to make it work. I think I found it here but it may have been on the rocketlauncher forums. I think this is the modified ahk I edited mine per instructions I founnd on RockeLauncher
kerryandray Posted November 5, 2019 Author Posted November 5, 2019 Thanks so much, ParadiseCS! That .MAME.ahk file did the trick. Games launching fine again from Hyperspin. :-) One thing...it didn't work straight off. I was getting past where I'd get the original error and was getting another error about "no path defined" or something like that. I went into HyperHQ and under the MAME wheel Settings > Emulator tab, the Execution setting was set to "Normal" instead of "HyperLaunch". I don't remember ever changing that, but I suppose it's possible. In any case, thought I'd mention it in case it happens to anyone else. Thanks, again, for all the help!
